Eubanks vs Tsitipas Prediction

Christopher Eubanks is a 6-foot-7, 27-year-old product of the US college tennis system who has spent years toiling at the Challenger level.

He has come into his own in rather unlikely fashion on the grass this year, coming in with momentum after winning his first career ATP Tour title on the grass in Mallorca.

A win over No. 12 seed Cameron Norrie in the second round was the impetus for making the second week.

Tsitsipas needed five gruelling sets to oust former US Open champ Dominic Thiem in a match tiebreak in the first round. Then he needed five more  to take out two-time champion Murray.

Some Eubanks serve numbers: 72 aces in three matches and just 11 double faults. A winning percentage on first serve of 83 percent. And, most pertinently, Eubanks has only coughed up seven break chances on his serve through 11 sets.

Tsitsipas isn’t a great returner – especially on the backhand – and has never faced the Eubanks serve. That’ll give the American enough of an advantage that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win the first set, likely in a tiebreak (+350).

After that, the difference in level will probably make itself felt.

Eubanks vs Tsitsipas Pick: Tsitsipas wins the match, both win a set (+108)

Alexandrova vs Sabalenka Prediction

Sabalenka has had a good draw so far. But with Alexandrova, there is history.

Alexandrova vs Sabalenka Match History

Year Tournament Surface Score Winner
2022 ‘s-Hertogenbosch (F) Grass 7-5, 6-0 Alexandrova
2021 Moscow (QF) Indoor Hard 6-3, 6-4 Alexandrova
2019 St. Petersburg (QF) Indoor Hard 6-3, 6-4 Sabalenka
2019 Shenzhen (R16) Outdoor Hard 6-3, 6-3 Sabalenka
2017 Shenzhen (F) Outdoor Hard 6-2, 7-5 Alexandrova

Notably, the Russian has won their last two meetings. And the most recent one, a year ago in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch final, came on grass.

Alexandrova returned to ‘s-Hertogenbosch this year and won the title.

Alexandrova made 91 unforced errors as the funky Madison Brengle (almost successfully) made her head explode in a three-tiebreak match. Going into that ‘s-Hertogenbosch final, the Russian had been 1-16 in deciding-set tiebreaks. She’s now won her last two. And she’s into her first career round of 16 at a major.

Sabalenka will be well aware of their history.

The sportsbooks are all over the place with this one, some having Sabalenka as a far bigger favorite than others in the Wimbledon odds. But she shouldn’t should be. It feels like a very even match, with a slight edge to Sabalenka.

Safiullin vs Shapovalov Pick: Over 24.5 Games (+124)

Alcaraz vs Berrettini Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz was hardly convincing in his third-round match against No. 25 seed Nicolas Jarry.

It took him four sets – and four hours – to get through him. It took four sets to beat unheralded Frenchman Alexandre Muller, too.

Neither of those two have Berrettini’s credentials, which will be apparent Monday at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz vs Berrettini Match History

Year Tournament Surface Score Winner
2022 Rio (QF) Outdoor Clay 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 Alcaraz
2022 Australian Open (R32) Outdoor Hard 6-2, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (5) Berrettini
2021 Vienna (QF) Indoor Hard 6-1, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5) Alcaraz

The Italian, a finalist in 2021 at Wimbledon before injuries set in, knows what it’s like to beat Alcaraz at a major – in a fifth-set, deciding tiebreak no less. He knows what it’s like to get to the final Sunday at Wimbledon, too.

If Berrettini’s abdominal issue, which appeared to bother him in the first round but hasn’t shown up since, doesn’t hamper him this one could easily be a five-setter.

Alcaraz vs Berrettini Pick: Alcaraz in Five Sets (+390)
