Saturday in the WNBA features two games, both night games, with a battle between the Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings capping the night of games at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas. The game will tip off at 8 pm ET and can be viewed on WNBA League Pass and on local television in both markets. Before the game begins, here are our Sun vs Wings odds and best bets.

The Sun enters Saturday’s game as one of the most steady and consistent teams in the WNBA, having won three of their last four and seven of their last 10 to sit third in the standings at 21-8 overall. The Sun most recently fell to the Phoenix Mercury 90-84 on Thursday in Phoenix.

The Wings come into the game attempting to get back on track while tapering off after a strong stretch before losing three in a row to hold a 5-5 record over their last 10 outings. Dallas sits at 15-14 overall on the year but remains a top-five team in the WNBA entering Saturday. The Wings are coming off a 104-84 blowout loss to Las Vegas on Tuesday in Texas.

Third Meeting of Season

Saturday’s battle is the third of four matchups between the two squads this season, with Connecticut holding a 2-0 series advantage so far. The fourth and final game will occur in less than a week, on August 18 in Connecticut.

In the first contest of the year on June 4, Connecticut topped Dallas 80-74 in a back-and-forth game in Connecticut. The Sun started the game off strong only to see the Wings put together a strong effort late behind while connecting on nine threes, an effort that ultimately came up short.

In the most recent meeting on July 25, the Sun once again edged past the Wings by taking the game 88-83 in Texas. Both teams shot the ball well, but the 32-point performance from DeWanna Bonner and the 28-point outing from Tiffany Hayes was enough to push Connecticut over the top.

Each game between the Sun and Wings has been a close and entertaining battle, and Saturday’s game should be much of the same in Arlington.

Teams That Could Make a Run

Not only are these two teams top five teams in the WNBA, but they are also a pair of squads who could end up playing spoiler in the postseason and could make a run in the playoffs once they begin in September.

When it comes to the 2023 WNBA Championship odds, Connecticut and Dallas are the two teams next on the list of title favorites following Las Vegas (-275) and New York (+300) as heavy favorites at the moment. The Sun is third in the odds at +1500, while the Wings are fourth on the list at +2000.

Connecticut and Dallas might not end up reaching or winning the WNBA Finals at the end of the year, but they have the potential to be a tough matchup for any team to face in the playoffs.

Keys to the Game

One of the biggest keys in this game will come on the defensive end and which team is ultimately going to turn the opposing offense over more and hold that unit in check on the other side of the court.

On the offensive side, neither Connecticut nor Dallas turns the ball over that much, with the Sun ranking second in turnovers (13.3) and the Wings ranking third (13.4). Both teams can also put up points early and often, with Dallas averaging the third-most points in the league (86.2) and Connecticut coming in at fourth (83.9).

Defensively, however, the Sun has excelled in being able to force turnovers, averaging 16.2 turnovers forced which is a league-best mark. The Wings have been strong in that category too, just not as strong, while ranking sixth with 14.4 opponent turnovers per game.

As for players to watch in this one, DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas will grab a lot of the attention on the side of Connecticut, but keep an eye on Tiffany Hayes who has been averaging nearly 15 points per game over her last five outings.

For Dallas, Satou Sabally and Arike Ogunbowale have led the team most of the season, but the post duo of Natasha Howard and Teaira McCowan have each been reaching double-figures in scoring over their last five games and could be a problem for the Sun post group in this matchup.

Sun vs Wings Picks

This battle on Saturday will once again be an entertaining one between two teams who are maybe next in line behind Las Vegas and New York in the WNBA at this point in the year. If the first two meetings are any indication of what we will see again Saturday, fans will be in for a treat.

As for who will ultimately come out on top in this third meeting, Connecticut has been playing too well and Dallas’ struggles will continue in Texas, resulting in the Sun extending their lead on the season series to 3-0.

As for the best bet of the night, go with the Sun not only covering the spread but also coming out on top.
