Atlanta hosts New York tonight, in Game 2 of their second-round WNBA playoff series. The Dream took the opener, 92-82, on Sunday night. Atlanta entered the postseason as the fourth seed after a 30-14 regular season; eighth-seeded New York finished 26-18.

New York reached the second round with a two-game sweep of top-seeded Minnesota, winning 91-75 and 87-71. Atlanta swept Washington, 92-77 and 93-75. Atlanta won the teams’ final two regular-season meetings after New York took the first, so Atlanta leads the season series 3-1 and has won three straight.

Below, I’m breaking down this game from all angles. Keep reading for the Liberty vs Dream Game 2 picks, predictions and best odds on Oct 7.

New York won the first regular-season matchup, 104-90, on June 11. Atlanta then took the September meetings 95-84 and 83-65 before its Game 1 playoff win. Atlanta’s regular-season record, +6.8 scoring differential and 91.3 points per game all topped New York’s corresponding marks of 26-18, +3.2 and 89.6. The Dream allowed 84.5 points per game; the Liberty allowed 86.4.

The Dream come into action as the favorite in the WNBA championship odds. They closed the regular season on a five-game winning streak and went 9-1 in their final 10; New York was 6-4 over its final 10 and ended the regular season with two losses before the stunning sweep of the Lynx.

The box scores add context to Atlanta’s recent run against New York. The Liberty won the June 11 meeting 104-90 with five players scoring 16 or more, led by Satou Sabally’s 19; Angel Reese had 25 and Rhyne Howard 24 for Atlanta. Atlanta then won the next two regular-season games, holding New York to 84 and 65 points. In Game 1, Jordin Canada scored 25 and Howard recorded eight assists; Sabrina Ionescu’s 27 points were not enough to keep the Liberty from finishing with 82.

Game 1’s 92-82 score cleared the total with 174 combined points. The three regular-season meetings ended with 194, 179 and 148 points, averaging 173.7. Atlanta’s 91.3 points per game plus New York’s 89.6 comes to 180.9, although adding team averages is only background context—not a matchup-specific forecast.

The 83-65 result in the latest regular-season meeting is a clear reason for caution, as is the chance that playoff defense tightens. The opener and season scoring history give the Over a slight case at 170.5, but not enough to make it a strong play. New users can claim the Kalshi promo code for a bonus to use on tonight’s game.

Atlanta had the stronger regular-season record and margins, but New York’s first-round sweep showed it can win comfortably when its defense is clicking.

Reese averaged 16.4 points and a league-leading team-high 12.1 rebounds over 43 regular-season appearances. Allisha Gray scored 19 points per game, Howard 17.7, and Canada added 11.6 points and 7.3 assists. In Game 1, Canada led Atlanta in scoring with 25; Howard’s eight assists were the team high. Gray’s hand issue makes her status a key pregame check.

Breanna Stewart has averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the postseason; Ionescu 19.3 points and 4.7 assists; and Jonquel Jones 13.7 points and 9.7 rebounds. Jones pulled down 11 rebounds in Game 1. New York will need her and the rest of the frontcourt to help balance the scoring and give Stewart more support.

Atlanta is a narrow home favorite tonight. The pick is Dream -1.5, with a modest stake given the team’s sub-.500 ATS record. The Over has some support from Game 1 and the teams’ earlier meetings, but the latest regular-season total was only 148. Compare current prices and verify Gray’s status before placing a wager.
