I have been monitoring and documenting NFL Coach of the Year odds since the 2019 season. I have recorded the opening COY odds for each year since then, along with updates to the odds after key events throughout each season. You can see who won each Coach of the Year award during that timeframe, as well as how and why the futures market changed over the course of the year below.

2025 NFL Coach of the Year Odds

Mike Vrabel won the 2025-26 NFL Coach of the Year award after the remarkable turnaround the Patriots experienced in his first year as head coach. Vrabel was one of the top contenders when odds opened, since he checked off the boxes of being a new coach and also taking over a bad team, but he did experience adversity early in the season, and was not seen as the favorite until much later in the season.

You can look back at how the Coach of the Year odds changed throughout the 2025-26 NFL season below.

Sports Betting Dime

Vrabel had been lingering as a close second in the odds starting in October, as his Patriots had taken over the top spot in the AFC East, notably knocking off the Bills. New England’s Week 10 signature win over the Bucs was enough for sportsbooks to make Vrabel the favorite, and he has not looked back since. Vrabel remains the favorite in spite of losing to the Bills in Week 15.

In his first season at the helm, Vrabel turned a 4-13 Patriots team from a season ago into a 14-3 team who has a chance to make a run in the playoffs.

Mike Macdonald is given the second-best odds right now, as his Seahawks locked up the top seed in the NFC, finishing with an impressive 14-3 record.

The top NFL Coach of the Year contenders after Week 18 are:

  1. Mike Vrabel, Patriots (-365 consensus odds)
  2. Mike Macdonald, Seahawks (+405)
  3. Liam Cohen, Jaguars (+775)
  4. Ben Johnson, Bears (+7750)
  5. Sean Payton, Broncos (+15000)

The coaches making the most notable rise up the NFL COY odds after Week 18 are:

  • Liam Cohen: the Jaguars clinched their division title and get to play at home in the Wild Card round. In his first season as head coach, Cohen turned a 4-13 Jaguars team into a 13-4 team, and reminded the world why Trevor Lawrence was so highly touted coming out of college. Cohen’s odds to win Coach of the Year improved from +1200 to +775 after Week 18.

And the coaches who saw their odds fall most notably include:

  • Kyle Shanahan: though Shanahan did a fantastic job navigating the 49ers through a rash of injuries this season, his Coach of the Year odds tanked after losing to the Seahawks in Week 18, which cost the 49ers the top seed in the NFC. Shanahan’s Coach of the Year odds faded from an average of +161 to +30000 after the loss.

Here are some notes on the 2025-26 Coach of the Year odds movement we have seen:

  • [November 11] Though Steichen’s Colts also recorded a win in Week 10, it wasn’t as impressive as Mike Vrabel and the Patriots’ win over the Buccaneers, according to sportsbooks. This is what led to Vrabel taking over as the COY favorite following Week 10.
  • [September 16] Shane Steichen took over as the new favorite after beating the Broncos, and helping Daniel Jones throw for 316 yards against what was believed to be a stingy Denver defense.
  • [September 9] Liam Cohen became the new favorite to win Coach of the Year after his Jaguars put together a convincing win over the Panthers in Week 1.
  • [August 29] Ben Johnson reclaimed the best odds to win Coach of the Year after the Bears’ starting offense put together some encouraging drives during the preseason.
  • [August 15] Bettors had to be appreciating Jonathan Gannon, as the Cardinals’ coach saw his odds improve from an average of +2500 in late-June to +1700 in mid-August.
  • [July 22] Mike Vrabel overtook Ben Johnson as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. Neither saw their odds move much at this time, and it was likely just the result of money coming in on Vrabel.
  • [March 14] After the Bears added three new starting offensive linemen during free agency, acquiring two of them via trades, as well as bolstering the interior of their defense, Ben Johnson’s NFL Coach of the Year odds improved from +700 to +550.
  • [March 7] Pete Carroll was already among the COY favorites prior to the Raiders acquiring Geno Smith, but most sportsbooks did not adjust his odds after the trade. ESPN Bet, however, quickly moved Carroll from +1400 to +1000 after the former Seahawks head coach was reunited with his quarterback.
  • [February 12] The opening 2025-26 NFL Coach of the Year odds favor Ben Johnson, who is a first-time head coach and accepted the Bears job. Sportsbooks obviously like the talent Johnson is inheriting in Chicago, and understand he would be a front-runner in the eyes of the voters if he was able to get Caleb Williams going after a rough rookie season.

2024 NFL Coach of the Year Odds

Kevin O’Connell was named the 2024-25 NFL Coach of the Year, but (as usual) it was a tight race that saw a few different favorites throughout the 2024-25 NFL season. Below you’ll find the odds to win the 2024 NFL COY award, and can see how back-and-forth this race was most of the season. The graphs below were generated by averaging the odds from multiple sportsbooks.

Sports Betting Dime

Simply looking at the candidates to turn around bad or underachieving teams, we saw coaches like Jim Harbaugh (opened as the favorite), who took on a Chargers team who had underachieved throughout Justin Herbert’s career, Raheem Morris, who was entering his first year as Falcons head coach and inherited a very talented roster, Shane Steichen, who nearly made the playoffs the prior season while having to start a backup QB most of the year, and Jonathan Gannon, whose Cardinals were looking to improve on a lousy prior season they played mostly without Kyler Murray, open among the top contenders for COY.

However, Kevin O’Connell made a quick move to become the 2024-25 COY favorite after his Vikings got off to a hot start, beating some of the believed-to-be league’s best teams over the first few weeks of the season. Dan Quinn and Dan Campbell both enjoyed time as the favorite before odds closed, but O’Connell regained status as the favorite before Christmas and never looked back. His Vikings finished the regular season tied for the second-best record in the NFC, and tied for the third-best in the NFL. Despite losing to the Lions, allowing Detroit to take the NFC’s top seed in the playoffs and dropped Minnesota to #5, O’Connell’s squad not only exceeded expectations, but smashed them. Minnesota was expected to win 6-7 games and find themselves near the top of the draft board the following season. Instead, O’Connell made Sam Darnold into one of the league’s better QBs in the 2024-25 season (outside of Week 18 and the playoffs) and won 14 games.

Bettors could have gotten the Vikings head coach at +2750 odds at opening, and those were the longest odds available all 2024-25 season. His odds were never longer than +775 from October on.

Here are some more notes on the movement we have seen:

  • [February 6] Kevin O’Connell was named the 2024-25 NFL Coach of the Year at the NFL Honors.
  • [December 31] After beating the Packers in Week 17, Kevin O’Connell’s Coach of the Year odds improved to -1000.
  • [December 23] O’Connell went from +110 odds to -250 odds after a Week 16 win over the Seahawks, which left the door open for Minnesota to take the NFC’s top seed.
  • [December 17] Kevin O’Connell took back over as the COY favorite after Dan Campbell’s Lions lost to the Bills in Week 15.
  • [December 10] Dan Campbell moved from the COY favorite to an odds-on favorite after beating the Packers in Week 14, which included a decision to go for it on fourth down instead of kicking a game-winning field goal at that time that would have left time on the clock for Jordan Love. It’s the first time we saw an odds-on favorite.
  • [November 26] After the Steelers lost to the Browns in Week 12, Dan Campbell took over as the Coach of the Year favorite, marking the first time this season he has been atop the COY odds.
  • [November 12] Mike Tomlin has taken over as the favorite to win NFL COY after his Steelers beat Dan Quinn’s Commanders in Week 10. Quinn had been the favorite entering that game.
  • [October 29] After Kevin O’Connell’s Vikings dropped their second straight game in Week 8, we saw Dan Quinn take over as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. Quinn’s Commanders pulled off a miraculous win over the Bears in Week 8, holding onto their top spot in the division (at this point in time), while the Vikings may be slowing down a bit after their hot start.
  • [October 15] A big win over a division-rival in Week 6 (the Broncos) has resulted in LA Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s COY odds improving from +1550 to +700, which were the third-best odds in the league at this time.
  • [October 8] Sean Payton moved into the top three contenders for NFL Coach of the Year following Denver’s third straight victory in Week 5. Payton’s odds improved from +1900 to +1100. Mike Macdonald’s odds tanked after his Seahawks were upset by the Giants at home, moving from +625 to +1500.
  • [October 1] Another Commanders win in Week 4 saw Dan Quinn’s NFL COY odds improve from +1750 to +650, tied for the second-best on the board.
  • [September 24] Kevin O’Connell took over as the new favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year after his Vikings beat the Texans in Week 3, moving their record to 3-0. O’Connell’s odds improved from +850 to +335.
  • [September 17] Matt Eberflus went from the second-best odds to win NFL COY at +950 entering Week 2, to +2500 after Chicago’s offense continued to struggle.
  • [September 10] Kevin O’Connell, Jerod Mayo, and Mike Tomlin all saw their COY odds improve significantly after good Week 1 performances from their respective teams. O’Connell went from +2000 to +1350, Tomlin from +2500 to +1450, and Mayo from +3000 to +1300. Raheem Morris’ Falcons didn’t get off to a very good start, however, and his odds faded from +1250 to +1700. Dave Canales saw an even bigger dip as his odds went from +1700 to +2750 following his Panthers being blown out and Bryce Young looking just as bad as last year.
  • [August 27] Mike Macdonald has seen his Coach of the Year odds improve from +2100 prior to the preseason to +1200 as we wrap up the preseason. Bettors like what they saw from Macdonald’s defense in Seattle throughout the preseason.
  • [August 6] Harbaugh has taken back the title of NFL COY favorite as the preseason kicks off.
  • [July 24] Matt Eberflus, bears head coach, has overtaken Jim Harbaugh as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year.
  • [April 29] After the Steelers firmed up a new QB room with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and now put together a really nice draft class, Mike Tomlin’s NFL COY odds have improved from +2650 to +2150.
  • [March 4] The Chargers’ new head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has opened as the favorite to win the 2024-25 NFL Coach of the Year award. Harbaugh inherits an extremely talented QB in Justin Herbert, but a pretty tough cap situation.

2023 NFL Coach of the Year Odds

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski won the 2023 NFL Coach of the Year award, his second time being named COY. However, Stefanski was an afterthought for much of the season and an extreme longshot at the beginning of November. See how the 2023 NFL COY odds changed throughout the 2023-24 NFL season below.

Sports Betting Dime

We saw coaches like Dan Campbell, whose Lions had a great opportunity to take the next step in their turnaround, Sean Payton, who took over a Broncos team who may have been the biggest disappointment in the league the previous year (but continued to be such), Robert Saleh, whose Jets looked like a real threat with Aaron Rodgers but were now given an opportunity to overcome a major injury as well, and Matt Eberflus, who seemed to be getting the Bears on the right track in his first year last season, all open with good odds to win the award.

However, Payton, Saleh, and Eberflus’ odds tanked pretty early in the season. Meanwhile, Kevin Stefanski took over as the favorite for the first time this season after Week 16. Dan Campbell was a close second at the time.

The AP announced their NFL COY finalists: Kevin Stefanski, Dan Campbell, DeMeco Ryans, John Harbaugh, and Kyle Shanahan.

Kevin Stefanski, who won NFL COY in 2020, was the heavy favorite to win 2023-24 NFL Coach of the Year with -950 odds when they were last available. Stefanski led the Browns to the playoffs in spite of needing to start five different QBs.

Here are some more notes on the movement we have seen:

  • [February 8] Kevin Stefanski was named the NFL Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season at the NFL Honors
  • [January 25] Kevin Stefanski, Dan Campbell, DeMeco Ryans, John Harbaugh, and Kyle Shanahan have been named the Associated Press’ finalists for NFL Coach of the Year.
  • [January 2, 2024] With Cleveland clinching a playoff berth in Week 17, which saw Joe Flacco make the Jets pass defense look mediocre at best, Kevin Stefanski has moved to a very heavy -950 favorite to win COY. Dan Campbell, who had been favorite two weeks prior, saw his odds fall way off, and he is now no longer among the top five contenders, after his Lions were robbed of a win over the Cowboys.
  • [December 26] After the Browns crushed the Texans in Week 16, making it extremely likely they will make the playoffs, we have seen Kevin Stefanski become the new favorite to win NFL COY. Stefanski is receiving a ton of credit for Cleveland remaining competitive in spite of being on their fourth starting QB.
  • [December 18] A dominant win over the Broncos in Week 15 has Dan Campbell back to being the favorite to win NFL COY. Demeco Ryans and Shane Steichen are given short +350 odds as well following each of their big wins over the weekend.
  • [December 12] Even though all of the Lions, Dolphins, and Texans lost in Week 14, Demeco Ryans’ loss was deemed the “best” of the bunch, evident by Ryans becoming the new favorite to win NFL COY. Dan Campbell and Mike McDaniel are both still very close behind.
  • [November 14] Demeco Ryans’ Texans got a huge win over the Bengals in Week 10, moving Ryans’ odds from +500 to +315, surpassing Mike McDaniel for the second-best odds behind Dan Campbell.
  • [October 10] Dan Campbell has taken back over as the favorite to win 2023 NFL Coach of the Year after Week 5. Mike McDaniel is a very close second. These two make up the upper tier of favorites following Week 5.
  • [September 18] After Week 2, Mike McDaniel has taken over as the new favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. McDaniel’s Dolphins have started the season 2-0 after beating the Patriots on the road in Week 2. His odds improved from +1400 to +700. Arthur Smith still has the second-best odds, but he also saw his odds improve, going from +1200 to +800. Dan Campbell, on the other hand, was the favorite entering Week 2, but a loss to the Seahawks has resulted in his odds fading from +800 to +950.
  • [September 11] Arthur Smith saw his odds improve from +1400 to +1100 after the Falcons beat the Panthers in Week 1. Atlanta’s head coach now has the second-best odds on the board. Sean Payton, who had the second-best odds entering Week 1, faded from +900 to +1400 after the Broncos were upset by the Raiders at home. The biggest move comes from Todd Bowles, who had the worst COY odds entering Week 1, moving from +6000 to +3500 after the Bucs upset the Vikings.
  • [March 6] Dan Campbell has opened as the favorite to win the 2023-24 NFL COY award with +1100 odds. Sean Payton has the next best odds at +1200.

2022 NFL Coach of the Year Odds

I tracked the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year odds from the time they opened right through to the NFL Honors. Brian Daboll won the award in his first year as the Giants head coach, but he was actually never given the best odds to win the award at any point of the season. See how the 2022 NFL COY odds changed over the course of the 2022-23 NFL season below.

Sports Betting Dime

Coaches like Nathaniel Hackett, Mike McDaniel, Kevin O’Connell, Doug Pederson, and Brian Daboll were among the favorites at the beginning of the year. Each coach was walking into their first season as head coach with a team who wasn’t great the previous season.

Nick Sirianni was the favorite for most of the season with his Eagles reeling off win after win and remaining undefeated pretty late into the season. We didn’t see odds reopen after Week 18 kicked off, but the closing odds did have Sirianni as the favorite. As we know, the Eagles head coach did not win the award.

Closing 2022 NFL COY Odds

Coach (Team) Odds
Nick Sirianni (Eagles) -175
Kyle Shanahan (49ers) +300
Doug Pederson (Jaguars) +900
Brian Daboll (Giants) +1600
Dan Campbell (Lions) +2000
Kevin O’Connell (Vikings) +4000
Robert Saleh (Jets) +10000
Sean McDermott (Bills) +10000
Andy Reid (Chiefs) +10000
Zac Taylor (Bengals) +10000
Mike McCarthy (Cowboys) +10000
Pete Carroll (Seahawks) +15000
Mike McDaniel (Dolphins) +20000
John Harbaugh (Ravens) +20000
Ron Rivera (Commanders) +20000

*Odds as of January 3

Those lucky enough to have bet Daboll before the odds closed got a nice 16-1 payout on that bet. The Giants head coach was as long as +3250 in mid-December as well.

Here are some more notes on the movement we have seen:

  • [January 3] After the Eagles dropped their second straight game, losing to the Saints in Week 17, Nick Sirianni is no longer the odds-on favorite to win NFL COY. Sirianni is still the co-favorite, though. His odds faded from -175 to +175, moving him into a tie with Kyle Shanahan for the best odds.
  • [December 20] With the Lions having won six of their last seven games, Dan Campbell has seen his odds improve from +10000 to as short as +175 in a matter of two weeks. Campbell is now second on the board, only behind Nick Sirianni.
  • [November 21] After beating the Colts in Week 11, Nick Sirianni is back to being an odds-on favorite to win NFL COY.
  • [November 15] With the Eagles suffering their first loss of the season in Week 10, Nick Sirianni’s NFL Coach of the Year odds faded from -135 to +120. Philadelphia’s head coach is still the favorite to win the award.
  • [November 1] Nick Sirianni has become an odds-on favorite to win NFL COY after his Eagles’ Week 8 win over the Steelers. The Eagles head coach went from +125 odds to -120, separating himself from Brian Daboll, who went from +250 to +500 after his Giants lost in Week 8, and the rest of the pack. The board also got a lot shorter today, with nearly half of the league’s coaches not being given odds anymore.
  • [October 25] After his Seahawks upset the Chargers in Week 7 to move to 4-3, Pete Carroll’s NFL COY odds have improved from +5000 to +2000, tying him for the fifth-best odds. Brian Daboll and Robert Saleh also saw improvement after their teams got big wins in Week 7 as well. Daboll at +250 is just behind Nick Sirianni (+125) and Saleh is now third at +1000.
  • [October 18] With the Jets upsetting the Packers at Lambeau in Week 6, Robert Saleh has seen his odds to win NFL COY improve from +5000 to +2000, making him a top eight contender.
  • [October 12] Brian Daboll has seen his NFL Coach of the Year odds improve from +1900 to an average of +575 after his Giants beat the Packers in London in Week 5. Daboll now has the second-best odds to win the award, behind Nick Sirianni, who is approaching even money.
  • [October 4] Nick Sirianni has really broken away from the field after his Eagles improved to 4-0 with a win over the Jaguars in Week 4. Philadelphia is now the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL. Sirianni’s odds have improved from +400 to +150.
  • [September 27] Despite getting a huge win over the Bills in Week 3, Mike McDaniel is no longer the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. Nick Sirianni, the only other coach whose team is 3-0, has taken over after his Eagles beat up the Commanders. Sirianni’s odds improved from +700 to +400, while McDaniel’s went from +600 to +500.
  • [September 20] Mike McDaniel is the new favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year, after his Dolphins took down the Ravens in Week 2 to start the season 2-0. McDaniel’s odds improved from +1100 to +600. Nick Sirianni, the Eagles head coach, saw his odds improve from +1400 to +700 and now has the second-best odds on the board. Nathaniel Hackett has seen his odds plummet from +1800 to +7500 after another game full of embarrassing coaching mistakes.
  • [September 12] A big win over the Packers in Week 1, where his offense looked very good, has Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell listed as the new favorite in NFL COY odds. His odds improved from +1500 to +800 after Sunday’s win. Mike McDaniel also saw his odds improve thanks to a win against a divisional foe, going from +2000 to +1100, tied for the third-best odds. Bill Belichick saw the biggest dip, as his odds went from +2000 to +6000 following his loss to McDaniel’s Dolphins.
  • [September 7] Brandon Staley enters the 2022-23 NFL season as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. Minnesota’s new head coach, Kevin O’Connell, saw his average odds go from +1750 to +1550, putting O’Connell second on the board.
  • [July 27] Dan Campbell has shot up the board over the summer months. The Lions’ head coach was given the worst odds to win NFL Coach of the Year when odds opened. Campbell was listed at +6000. He now has the seventh-best odds to win the award at +1700.
  • [April 5] Chargers head coach Brandon Staley has opened as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year with +1450 odds. The top of the oddsboard also includes new Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, Sean McDermott, Kevin Stefanski, and Kyle Shanahan, among others.

2021 NFL Coach of the Year Odds

I tracked the odds to win the 2021 NFL Coach of the Year award from the time they opened, right through to closing. Titans head coach Mike Vrabel won the award after his team managed to still get the top seed in the AFC in spite of losing star running back Derrick Henry halfway through the season. Vrabel only spent one week of the season as the favorite to win COY, though.

You can see how the 2021 NFL COY odds changed throughout the season in the graph below, which was generated by averaging the odds from multiple sportsbooks.

Sports Betting Dime

The NFL Coach of the Year award was handed out Thursday, February 10 at the NFL Honors. It was the only major award that did not have an overwhelming favorite based off the betting odds. Bengals coach Zac Taylor closed as the +150 favorite, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was a close second at +175. Mike Vrabel, third on the odds board, took the NFL Coach of the Year award home, though.

  • [February 10] In the first surprise of the 2022 NFL Honors, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel won NFL Coach of the Year. Vrabel’s odds were +350 when the odds closed, behind both Matt LaFleur and Zac Taylor.
  • [January 3] With the Bengals beating the Chiefs in Week 17 to clinch the AFC North title, Cincinnati’s head coach Zac Taylor has become the favorite in NFL Coach of the Year odds. His odds improved from +750 to +150. Matt LaFleur’s odds remained at +175, but he is now second on the board. The Colts’ loss to the Raiders on Sunday saw Frank Reich’s NFL COY odds fade from +300 to +5000.

Closing 2021 NFL COY Odds

Coach (Team) Odds
Zac Taylor (Bengals) +150
Matt LaFleur (Packers) +175
Mike Vrabel (Titans) +350
Bill Belichick (Patriots) +2000
Nick Sirianni (Eagles) +3500
Sean McVay (Rams) +4000
Frank Reich (Colts) +5000
Mike McCarthy (Cowboys) +5000
Kliff Kingsbury (Cardinals) +5000
Sean McDermott (Bills) +5000
Rich Bisaccia (Raiders) +5000
Brandon Staley (Chargers) +8000
Andy Reid (Chiefs) +8000
Bruce Arians (Buccaneers) +10000
Kyle Shanahan (49ers) +10000

*Odds as of January 4

Here are some more notes on the movement we have seen:

  • [December 29] Bill Belichick’s odds to win NFL Coach of the Year went from +100 to +750 after his Patriots lost to the Bills in Week 16, falling out of the top spot in their division. Matt LaFleur’s Packers currently own the top seed in the NFC, and LaFleur’s COY odds have improved from +300 to +175, making him the new favorite. Frank Reich, whose Colts upset the Cardinals in Week 16, also saw significant odds movement, going from +1600 to +300, the second-best odds on the board.
  • [December 22] Though his Patriots lost in Week 15, Bill Belichick’s NFL Coach of the Year odds improved from +110 to +100. Matt Lafleur’s odds improved from +800 to +300, the second-best odds on the board, with the Packers becoming the first team to clinch their division title and also taking over the top spot in the NFC. A loss to the Lions sent Kliff Kingsbury’s odds from +600 to +1600.
  • [December 14] After Kliff Kingsbury’s Cardinals lost to the Rams on MNF of Week 14, his NFL Coach of the Year odds faded from +350 to +600, still the second-best odds on the board. This leaves Bill Belichick as the clear cut favorite atop the board at +110.
  • [December 7] Bill Belichick is now nearing even-money to win NFL Coach of the Year. His Patriots took down the Bills in Buffalo in Week 13, giving them a 1.5-game lead in the AFC East and the top spot in the AFC. Belichick’s NFL COY odds improved from +300 to +125 as a result.
  • [November 30] With the Patriots winning their sixth straight game in Week 12, their defense looking very strong, and Mac Jones turning in a fantastic rookie season, Bill Belichick has become the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year. Belichick’s NFL Coach of the Year odds improved from +500 to +300 to leap Kliff Kingsbury, whose Cardinals were on bye, on the board.
  • [November 23] An embarrassing loss to the Texans has seen Titans head coach Mike Vrabel’s NFL Coach of the Year odds fade from +400 to +600. He was the favorite entering Week 11. Kliff Kingsbury, whose Cardinals beat the Seahawks without Kyler Murray in the lineup, is now the favorite.
  • [November 15] Over the past two weeks, Titans boss Mike Vrabel has moved from a +2000 longshot to the +400 favorite. Tennessee is riding a six-game win streak and has a three game lead on Indianapolis in the AFC South.
  • [November 1] The Chargers’ loss to the Patriots in Week 8 has resulted in Brandon Staley’s NFL Coach of the Year odds fading significantly. He is no longer the favorite to win the award, as Mike McCarthy, whose Cowboys managed to beat the Vikings without Dak Prescott in Week 8, has taken over.
  • [October 26] After the Bengals hammered the Ravens in Week 7, Zac Taylor’s NFL Coach of the Year odds improved from an average of +3250 all the way to +1000, putting him among the top five contenders.
  • [October 19] Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, who was among the top contenders to close out September, has seen his NFL Coach of the Year odds plummet with Denver’s three-game losing streak. His odds were +1000 back on September 28, but are now at an average of +2250.
  • [October 12] Brandon Staley has become a heavy favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year after his Chargers beat the Browns in Week 5, marking their fourth win in five weeks. Sean McDermott’s odds also saw a significant boost following Buffalo’s win over Kansas City on Sunday Night Football.
  • [October 5] Despite having the only undefeated team in the league, and upsetting the Rams in Week 4, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury only has the third-best odds to win NFL Coach of the Year. His odds did improve from an average of +1700 to +1050, but Brandon Staley remains the favorite, and Sean McVay is still given slightly better odds as well.
  • [September 28] After Brandon Staley’s Chargers upset the Chiefs in Week 3, the first-year head coach has taken back the top spot on the board for NFL Coach of the Year odds, sending Sean McVay back to second. Vic Fangio and Matt Rhule also saw their odds significantly improve after their respective teams have gotten off to 3-0 starts to the season.
  • [September 21] Sean McVay has overtaken Brandon Staley as the favorite to win NFL Coach of the Year after Week 2. McVay’s Rams are off to a 2-0 start, while Staley’s Chargers lost to the Cowboys in Week 2. Jon Gruden’s odds have improved from an average of +4450 to +1850, making him a top ten contender, with his Raiders also off to a 2-0 start.

  • [May 28] Kevin Stefanski has broken away from the pack as the favorite to win NFL COY, despite the fact that no coach has won the award in back-to-back years since Joe Gibbs in 1982 and 1983 seasons.
  • [May 14] Kyle Shanahan, Kevin Stefanski (last year’s Coach of the Year), and Brandon Staley (Chargers first-year head coach) have opened as the co-favorites to win the 2021 NFL Coach of the Year.
