The 2020 US Presidential election is still 17 months away but the race really begins to heat up next week, with the first round of Democratic Primary debates.
NBC has opted to split up the large field of candidates into back-to-back debates on June 26th and 27th, with 10 candidates in each session.

A series of prop wagers related to the Democratic Primary debates have been released. Considering that it seems you can’t open anything to do with US politics without incurring something about President Donald Trump, the Donald plays a prominent role in these props.
Will Trump Be A Primary Focus?
What’s the only thing that makes Trump happier than talking about himself? Hearing others talk about him.
When asked what he would do if somebody offered him campaign dirt on an opponent, @petebuttigieg says “you wouldn’t do anything with the dirt, you would call the FBI. This isn’t even complicated,” and “it's shocking to hear the President say what he said.” #IfItsSunday

It’s expected you’ll be hearing a lot of references to Trump during the first round of Democratic Primary debates.
The O/U wager on Trump mentions during the debate have been set at a total of 45.5.
How Many Times Will Donald Trump Be Mentioned During The June Democratic Debates?
Total Trump Mentions During Democratic Primary Debates? | Odds |
---|---|
Over 45.5 | -115 |
Under 45.5 | -115 |
*All odds taken 06/21/19
With 20 voices to be heard from, even if they only reference Trump twice each, you’re already at 40 mentions. The 45.5 total seems perilously low.
Play: Over 45.5 (-115)
What Will Trump Have To Say?
The world’s most famous tweeter figures to have his Twitter thumbs locked and loaded during the debates. But how often will Trump fire off one of his incendiary tweets?
How Many Times Will Donald Trump Tweet During The June Democratic Debates?
Total Trump Tweets During Democratic Primary Debates? | Odds |
---|---|
Over 2.5 | -115 |
Under 2.5 | -115 |
On average, Trump tweets between 11-12 times per day. You know he’s going to have plenty to say about his potential 2020 opponents for the White House.
In the ultimate act of moral cowardice, not one Democrat Candidate for president – not a single one – has stood up to defend the incredible men and women of ICE and Border Patrol. They don’t have the character, the virtue, or the spine! #Trump2020 pic.twitter.com/oULNnVtxmW

Again, this total seems absurdly low.
Play: Over 2.5 (-115)
Oh For Pete’s Sake
Pete Buttigieg is a surprise contender for the Democratic nod. The 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is a fresh face with fresh viewpoints.
Now, if only people could say his name.

As embarrassing as it is for many Americans to admit who their current President is, imagine the shamefulness if Buttigieg wins in 2020 and the majority of people who voted for him still can’t correctly pronounce his surname.
How Many Times Will People Mispronounce Pete Buttigieg’s Name?
Total Buttigieg Mispronunciations During Democratic Primary Debates? | Odds |
---|---|
Over 1.5 | -115 |
Under 1.5 | -115 |
For Pete’s sake, think of how many times you’ve said Buttigieg wrong today. Now multiply that by 19 (we’re going to assume Pete knows the right way to say it).
Joe Biden ought to be good for at least two mispronunciations all on his own.
Play: Over 1.5 (-115)
Talk It Up
With 10 candidates on stage during Wednesday’s first debate, it’s going to be like a playoff game. There won’t be many chances, so you’d better make them count.
Which Candidate Will Speak The Most During The First Night Of Debates?
Which Candidate Will Speak The Most During The First Night of Democratic Primary Debates? | Odds |
---|---|
Elizabeth Warren | +350 |
Beto O’Rourke | +450 |
Cory Booker | +500 |
Amy Klobuchar | +500 |
Tulsi Gabbard | +500 |
Bill DiBlasio | +1000 |
Jay Inslee | +1000 |
John Delaney | +1000 |
Julian Castro | +1000 |
Tim Ryan | +1000 |
Warren is proving to be someone who’s delivery is strong on policy and short on hyperbole. She’s able to get her point across in a clear and concise manner. There’s no reason for her to drone on.
TONIGHT on @NBCNightlyNews: Beto O'Rourke pitches his #BigIdea.

The campaigns of O’Rourke and Booker both already look to be running on fumes. They need to hit it out of the park on debate night, so they will seek out the spotlight’s glare.
Go for a price on this prop.
Play: Cory Booker (+500)
Talk It Up (The Sequel)
Will Bernie Sanders be at his utmost grumpy old man ranting? Can Biden keep his foot out of his mouth the entire night?

Will Kamala Harris steal the show and take control in similar manner to the way she took down Attorney-General William Barr when he appeared before Congress?
Which Candidate Will Speak The Most During The Second Night Of Democratic Debates?

---|---|
Bernie Sanders | +325 |
Joe Biden | +325 |
Pete Buttigieg | +450 |
Kamala Harris | +500 |
Andrew Yang | +1000 |
Eric Swalwell | +1000 |
Kirsten Gillibrand | +1000 |
John Hickenlooper | +1000 |
Michael Bennet | +1000 |
Marianne Williamson | +1000 |
Harris worked for years as a prosecutor. She’s adept at winning over an audience with her combination of knowledge of the subject matter and superb oratory skills.
This is her area of expertise. The debate stage is where she’ll shine through the most.
Play: Kamala Harris (+500)
