The greatest summer of offseason movement has completely shifted the epicenter of the Association. The era of the NBA being governed by super teams appears to have reached a conclusion. The 2019-20 campaign is going to be determined by which terrific twosome proves to be the most dominant duo.

Oddsmakers are of the opinion that it will be the Los Angeles Lakers’ tandem of James and Davis. The James/Davis tandem is listed as the +100 chalk.

Surprisingly, you can get odds of +150 on the Houston Rockets duo of Harden and Westbrook, both of them past NBA MVPs and scoring champions.

Will LeBron Acquiesce To AD?

King James is 34 years old. Injuries cost him a significant portion of the 2017-18 NBA campaign. He didn’t make it to the NBA Finals for the first time in eight years. LeBron missed the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.

To change all that, is he willing to take a step that is foreign to most NBA stars, i.e. a step back?

In Davis, the Lakers have paired James with the best big man James has ever played with, and perhaps even the most talented teammate he’s ever had. But is LeBron willing to allow the Lakers’ offense to flow through Davis as the main scoring option?

Davis has averaged at least 24 points per game in each of the past five seasons, and more than 25 PPG in all of the past three campaigns. LeBron has gone over 25 PPG in 14 consecutive seasons. He’s surpassed 27 PPG in each of the past two years.

Together, the potential is there to make beautiful music.

Houston’s Dynamic Duo

Not since Bruce Wayne invited his youthful ward, Dick Grayson, to join him in the crime-fighting game as Batman and Robin has there been this much buzz about a dynamic duo.

Harden is a two-time NBA scoring champ and a former MVP. Westbrook is a two-time scoring champ and a former MVP.

Harden won the NBA scoring title in 2016-17, averaging 30.4 PPG. He liked it so much that he did it again last season, pouring in 36.1 PPG. In 2016-17, Westbrook scored 31.6 PPG to top the league.

Harden’s high percentage style of game is the dream of every analytics nerd. Westbrook is an old-school gunslinger.

Paired, they could be spectacular, or they could spontaneously combust. Whatever the case, it will be fascinating to watch.

The Rest Are Racing To Place

The 76ers (Joel Embiid/Ben Simmons) might rightly wonder why their duo wasn’t given odds. And if this were next season and Kevin Durant was healthy, where would the Nets duo of him and Kyrie Irving fit into this picture?

The truth is, all would be battling for third place.

This title is a two-horse race. George (double shoulder surgery) will miss at least the first 10 games of the season. Leonard was limited to 60 games for Toronto last season.
