  • The Red Wings visit Rogers Arena trying to end a road skid against a Canucks team in a long slide
  • The game total has already moved, even with lopsided public money on one side

The Detroit Red Wings visit the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Thursday, Oct. 22, and both teams need a win. Vancouver is stuck in an extended losing streak, while Detroit is trying to snap a road skid of its own.

The Canucks need Elias Pettersson and their top line to produce. Detroit will look to Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin against a Vancouver defense that has given up plenty of shots.

Both teams are also dealing with injuries, including one in the Vancouver crease. My Red Wings vs Canucks prediction is below, along with the latest odds and trends.

Red Wings vs Canucks Prediction

  • Red Wings to win — Yes at 62¢ on Kalshi

Detroit
62%

My Red Wings vs Canucks prediction is on Detroit. Vancouver has lost eight straight and is 2-9 over its last 11 home games, while the Red Wings have won the last three meetings.

The 62¢ Yes price implies a 62% chance and returns $1 if Detroit wins, before fees, and Detroit is on a five-game road losing streak, so this isn’t a free pass. But the Canucks are getting outshot 33.64 to 20.73 per game, and I’ll back the better team in this spot.

Red Wings vs Canucks Odds

MarketYes price
Detroit to win62¢
Vancouver to win40¢
Over 6.5 goals50¢

The Red Wings vs Canucks odds favor Detroit, but a 62¢ contract still leaves room for an upset. A winning Yes contract settles at $1; a losing contract settles at zero.

For the Red Wings vs Canucks over/under, Kalshi lists Over 6.5 at 50¢. BetMGM has a different total: Over 6 at -128 and Under 6 at +105. Exactly six goals would push that sportsbook total, while Over 6.5 would lose.

Kalshi prices and BetMGM totals checked before handoff; prices can move. Check the latest NHL odds before puck drop.

The Red Wings vs Canucks betting splits line up with my pick. Detroit has 81.83% of the moneyline handle, and 92.34% of the total handle is on the over.

The sportsbook odds tracked a move from 6.5 to 6 despite that over money. That movement concerns the sportsbook total, not Kalshi’s separate 6.5-goal market.

Detroit controls play with a 52.8% Corsi share and a 53.7% Fenwick share. Vancouver sits at 42.4% and is allowing 4.55 goals per game.

Both power plays are at 21.9%, but neither penalty kill has held up. Any trip to the box could turn into a goal on either side.

Daniil Tarasov vs Leevi Meriläinen Stats

Tarasov is projected for Detroit, with John Gibson as the alternative. Meriläinen is expected for Vancouver, with Kevin Lankinen as the other option. Neither starter is confirmed.

Tarasov’s 1.40 GAA and .940 save percentage back up my pick on Detroit.

Red Wings vs Canucks Lineups and Injuries

Based on depth charts, Larkin centers Viktor Arvidsson and Lucas Raymond on Detroit’s projected top line, with DeBrincat on the second line. Vancouver’s projected top line has Jake DeBrusk, Pettersson and Linus Karlsson.

Thatcher Demko (hip) remains on IR for Vancouver, and Marco Rossi (illness) is day-to-day. Jack Thompson, Akil Thomas and Mackenzie MacEachern are out on non-roster IR.

Detroit has ruled out J.T. Compher (undisclosed). Marco Kasper (upper body) is week-to-week, and Mason Appleton (undisclosed) is on IR.
