Conor Benn Aims for Title Defense Trifecta
Benn hasn’t fought in over a year with his last bout being a TKO victory over Steve Jamoye in October 2019.
Despite injuries and COVID-19 layoffs, Conor Benn was keeping busy by training with elite level welterweight Kell Brook ahead of this one.
The unbeaten British pro boxer is looking to make his third successful defense of his WBA hardware.

This is a great fight for both as Benn has a chance to add his most impressive name to date on his resume. Meanwhile, Formella has a chance to rebound in an impactful fashion from his first pro loss.
Sebastian Formella’s Back After First Defeat
While Benn has yet to compete in 2020, Sebastian Formella has had a pair of bouts this calendar year.
Formella’s last outing saw him take on Shawn Porter in a losing effort in August via unanimous decision.
With that fight, he seemed to gain some level of esteem from it as the 33-year-old German pugilist was able to go the distance against one of the cream of the crop 147 pounders of the present day.
🗣 “This will be a special fight. If I don’t get the knockout I have the conditioning to go the full ten rounds!” – Sebastian Formella#BennFormella pic.twitter.com/I8esPSPNBk

There’s a tremendous amount of parity in this matchup, which should generate excitement among followers of the sweet science.
Sebastian Formella has a two-inch reach advantage and the experience edge. Conor Benn has the superior stopping ability with a 69 percent knockout rate overall compared to Formella’s sub 50 percent KO rate.
Benn vs Formella Tale of the Tape
16-0 | Record | 22-1 |
11 | Knockouts | 10 |
5’8 | Height | 5’9.5 |
68″ | Reach | 70″ |
Steve Jamoye and Jussi Koivula | Significant Wins | Roberto Arriaza, Thulani Mbenge, Ilias Essaoudi |
Orthodox | Stance | Orthodox |
This one is scheduled for ten rounds, and I ultimately think it will go the distance.
I foresee Benn eventually getting the decision victory with Formella having some moments and showing his durability throughout.
Pick: Conor Benn (-225)
Main Card Picks for Benn vs Formella
- Alen Babic vs Tom Little: Little is a journeyman with a 10-8 record while Babic has a spotless 5-0 record as a pro. Alen Babic has a one hundred percent stoppage rate, and I think he maintains that this weekend. I see Babic getting the knockout in either the fourth or fifth round. Pick: Alen Babic (-2200)
- Fabio Wardley vs Richard Lartey: Wardley and Lartey have notable stoppage rates sitting at 89 and 79 percent overall, respectively. Wardley is undefeated, he has an eight-fight knockout streak, and I see him extending it to nine this Saturday. Fabio Wardley halts the action in either the fifth or sixth round. Pick: Fabio Wardley (-1500)
