Game one of the NBA Finals are set to take this stage this Thursday when the hungry San Antonio Spurs takes on the Miami Heat at the AT&T Center, at 9 PM ET, in the first NBA finals rematch in back to back years since the Bulls clashed the Jazz in the 90’s.

San Antonio had a steep road to the finals taking on the Dallas Mavericks in 7, then Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 and finally the OKC Thunder 4-2; however, their cause for concern is the health of point guard Tony Parker, who is set to play on Thursday despite nursing a balky left ankle.

”He’s getting better every day, and I expect him to play,” coach Gregg Popovich said Tuesday.

Miami swept the Charlotte Bobcats, then, took care of the Brooklyn Nets in five games, and the Indiana Pacers in six.  It was one of the easiest roads to the finals in recent years.

“They don’t like us. They don’t,” Heat star Lebron James said Monday in Miami. “I can sense it from Timmy’s comments over the last couple of days. … They want us, so they got us.”

For San Antonio is nothing personal; it’s about business.

“Every time you play a team in the playoffs, you don’t like them,” Spurs Manu Ginobili said. “That grows on you. It’s such a challenge, you want to beat them so bad that you start to grow that challenge of you don’t want the opponent to score on me, you don’t want them to do good. You want to do everything you can to limit them. In some ways, it’s sort of dislike, but the same happened to me against Dallas and against Portland and against Oklahoma City. It’s part of what the playoffs are about.”

The NBA finals betting odds for game one have the Spurs favorites -4 points over the Heat in the spread; the game total was set at 198.5 points.
