This weekend, Bundesliga fans are in for a treat as league leaders, Bayern Munich, face off with Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich have all but wrapped up the Meisterschale this season, holding an eight point advantage on Borussia Dortmund. Presently, their Bundesliga odds sit at -6600, with 12 matches to go.
Nonetheless, it has not all been smooth sailing for Bayern as of late. In fact, the Bavarians have only won two out of their last four in all competitions. A loss to Bochum and draw to RB Salzburg in the Champions League was a major wake up call for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Additionally, this weekend it took a late Leroy Sane strike to seal a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. It is evident that they are struggling without the likes of Manual Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Leon Goretzka. In turn, expect a high flying ninety minutes against one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting attacks in Bayer Leverkusen.

Overall, the moneyline odds for this game heavily skew in favor of Bayern at -245. Goals are also expected in this game with -152 odds for the over on 3.5 total goals. In their last ten H2H matches, these sides have averaged 4.6 total goals per game, so there might be value in even going higher than 3.5.

Leverkusen’s Attack Will Be Without Patrick Schick
Regardless, this match is not all about Bayern Munich. As a matter of fact, Bayer Leverkusen have a four point lead in third place and have one of the best goal records in the Bundesliga.

Patrick Schick, Moussa Diaby and Florian Wirtz are one of the best attacking trios in Europe, at the moment. In fact, the triad has combined for 57 goals contributions this season. Unfortunately, they will be without Schick for this match against Bayern Munich as he sits out with a calf injury.

As a result, Leverkusen have to find a way to replace his offensive output in the meantime. In their last match against Arminia Bielefeld, they started Lucas Alario in the nine spot.
I would expect Gerry Seoane to set up in a similar fashion on Saturday, given that they defeated Arminia by a score of 3-0. While the talent on Saturday will be on a different stratosphere, Alario did manage to score a goal at the weekend, while putting up four shots as well.

Furthermore, another player to watch for Leverkusen is Jonathan Tah, in the middle of defense. His battle with Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry is going to be a fun one to watch. The German defender is dominant in the air, winning 3.46 aerial duels per ninety, ranking in the top 81% of European defenders.
Die Roten’s Rut Will Not End This Weekend
Despite Bayern putting together successive wins in the Bundesliga, I do not foresee their rut ending. In reality, they just have so many key pieces missing. For one, Sven Ulreich will see another game in net while Neuer finds his way back in the squad.

Secondly, aside from the other notable absences, Lucas Hernandez will be out of this match, serving a suspension. This scratch, more than any other player, will have a huge impact in how this match plays out. For Leverkusen, Diaby will be attacking down that wing with a vengeance, knowing he will most likely be against someone in an unnatural position.

Finally, Bayern might be looking to save some legs knowing they have a midweek fixture with RB Salzburg in the Champions League. That match has not been won yet, and they currently have a more comfortable foothold on their home front.
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Best Bet
Overall, the best bet in this match is Leverkusen to cover the +1.5 spread with odds of -122. The H2H results are not in favor of Leverkusen, but their current form is outstanding and Bayern are just not at 100%.
Pick: Bayer Leverkusen +1.5 (-122)
