Los Blancos of course took home the crown in May, beating Liverpool in the grand finale in Paris. As for Celtic, this is their first time in Europe’s most prized competition since 2017-18.

Los Blancos is the clear favorite at -165 odds, but these two sides haven’t met since the 1979-80 season, where Madrid won 3-2 on aggregate across two quarterfinal legs.

The over 2.5 goals sit at -150 odds, while the under is +120. Celtic tends to score loads of goals in the Scottish Premiership, but Real will be a much more difficult opponent than they’re used to.
Celtic vs Real Madrid Betting Preview
A return to the Champions League is definitely exciting for the Scottish giants, who won the league title last term which resulted in steering clear of the UCL qualifying rounds. Ange Postecoglou’s men are off to a great start this season as well, winning all six games thus far while scoring 25 times and conceding just once.

The Hoops had a taste of Europe in 2021-22 too, but it wasn’t pretty. They finished third in Group G of the Europa and ultimately dropped down to the brand new Conference League, losing 5-1 in the knockout rounds to a Norwegian club.
If they can carry over their current domestic form into the UCL though, Celtic has a chance. Outside of Madrid, this group is relatively wide open, with Shakhtar and Leipzig accompanying the two matchday 1 counterparts. The odds to win UCL Group see Real heavily favored at -670. Celtic ia +5000 longshot.

Although they are the holders, Madrid’s Champions League odds surprisingly sit at just +850, the fifth-best in the competition. But, Carlo Ancelotti’s side won’t have any shortage of confidence that another run to the final can be in the cards. Los Blancos should have no problem winning this group and come into this fixture in impressive form, notching four consecutive victories to begin their La Liga title defense.

Saturday was a hard-fought 2-1 win over a gritty Real Betis squad, with promising Brazilian youngsters Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo producing the goods up top. Karim Benzema failed to get on the scoresheet, but he’s already up to five goals and will be excited to replicate last year’s UCL success once again, single-handedly keeping Real in the knockout stages.
Celtic vs Real Madrid Lineups and Injuries
Celtic Projected Lineup: Hart; Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Jenz, Taylor; O’Riley, McGregor, Hatate; Abada, Giakoumakis, Jota
Celtic Injuries: Ideguchi, Startfelt
Real Madrid Projected Lineup: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Modric, Tchouameni, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius

Celtic vs Real Madrid Pick
A return to the bright lights of the Champions League in Glasgow should give Celtic a major boost, especially with the home fans supporting them. I actually do expect the hosts to give Madrid a serious run for their money here, but Los Blancos’ quality will shine through in the end. I’m liking the visitors to win and both teams to score.
Pick: Madrid to win & both teams to score (+200)
