Over/Under & Spread
Over 2.5 goals sit at -120 here, while the under is at -110. Sporting had no problem finding the back of the net last week against Frankfurt. While Spurs scored twice, but both goals came late on and while playing up a man,
Sporting Lisbon vs Tottenham Preview
The hosts are actually off to a relatively poor start for their standards in Portugal, going 3-1-2. That puts them in sixth place and a whole eight points off the top already. But, Sporting is enjoying a solid run of results, winning three in a row coming into Tuesday.

Ruben Amorim’s men defeated Portimonense over the weekend, with Francisco Trincao scoring a brace. Before that was of course the Frankfurt victory and another convincing league win at the beginning of the month. Lisbon really looked strong against the Europa title-holders, showcasing a ton of solidity at the back and capitalizing on their opportunities up top. During this current unbeaten streak, Sporting has bagged nine goals and conceded none. That’s a promising sign ahead of an important UCL match.

Spurs made their return to the Champions League in fine fashion last Wednesday, with Richarlison playing the hero in his European debut. The Brazilian scored a brace to lead the way for Antonio Conte’s side. It took them quite some time to find a breakthrough though after Marseille was handed a red card in the 47th minute. Tottenham didn’t score until the 76th minute.

There was no shortage of chances for the hosts though, with 18 total shots. However, Richarlison’s two goals were the only ones on target. Conte’s group actually hasn’t played since the Marseille encounter because all games were postponed across England this past weekend following the death of Queen Elizabeth. Nonetheless, Spurs are still in phenomenal form, going unbeaten in seven. They’ve yet to lose this term across all competitions. Tottenham’s Champions League odds are also at +1600.

Sporting Lisbon vs Tottenham Pick
Both clubs are playing tremendous football right now, but I have to take Spurs. Sure, a defeat is going to happen sooner rather than later, but it may not come during this relatively easy Group Stage schedule. While Sporting’s defense has been strong of late, they’ll be entering this match with several defensive concerns. Jeremiah St Juste left the Frankfurt match, while both Goncalo Inacio and Luis Neto had to be taken off this weekend against Portimonense. That could be just enough for the likes of Harry Kane, Richarlison, and Heung-min Son to make the most of their chances against a depleted backline.
Pick: Tottenham -101
