Syracuse is a 10-point favorite in a game that will be televised by ESPN after opening at -9.

Virginia Betting Outlook
Virginia escaped Old Dominion’s upset bid last Saturday when Brendan Farrell kicked a 26-yard field goal as time expired.

Old Dominion had pulled ahead 14-13 on a touchdown with 1:01 left. Brennan Armstrong then drove Virginia 56 yards to the winning field goal.
Farrell made three field goals but also missed from 36 yards earlier in the fourth quarter.
Virginia outgained Old Dominion 513-324. However, the Cavaliers lost three fumbles, including two inside the Monarchs’ 5-yard line.
Armstrong threw for 284 yards. He completed 20 of 37 passes, including a 30-yarder to Lavel Davis Jr. that started the winning drive.
Armstrong also rushed for 54 yards, 13 of which came on a carry that got the Cavaliers to the Old Dominion 20 in the final minute.
Keytaon Thompson was Virginia’s top receiver with nine catches for 118 yards and is fourth in the ACC in receiving yards with 235 through three games. Xavier Brown ran for 88 yards on just nine attempts.

Tight end Grant Misch could become a factor in the passing game. He caught four passes for 33 yards after having just seven career receptions in 37 games.
Virginia is averaging just 17.7 points a game to rank 122nd among the 131 FBS teams. However, the Cavaliers are 39th in scoring defense, giving up 18.3 points a game.
Syracuse Betting Outlook
Syracuse pulled out the win over Purdue when Garrett Shrader threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Oronde Gadsden II with seven seconds remaining.

Purdue had pulled ahead 29-25 on a touchdown with 51 seconds left. However, two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties forced the Boilermakers to kick off from the 10-yard line. That gave the Orange a short field to drive for the winning score.
After completing 37 of 47 passes for 79.2% in Syracuse’s first two games, Schrader wasn’t as sharp against Purdue. He was just 13 of 29 but finished with 181 yards, three TDs and no interceptions. Shrader also rushed for 83 yards.
Two of the scoring passes went to Gadsden, who finished with six receptions for 112 yards.
Sean Tucker was limited to 42 yards rushing in 18 attempts. He had gone over 100 yards in each of Syracuse’s first two games.

Shrader is fifth in the ACC with 705 passing yards. Tucker’s 252 rushing yards also rank fifth.
Syracuse is allowing 16.7 points a game, which ranks 32nd in the nation. However, Purdue’s Aidan O’Connell passed for 415 yards against the Orange.
Virginia vs Syracuse Prediction
Virginia leads the all-time series 3-2, including a 44-38 victory in triple overtime in their last meeting during the 2015 season in Charlottesville.
Despite being 3-0, Syracuse is flying under the radar nationally. The sharps hit the Orange hard as soon as the lines came out Sunday, though, and with good reason. Syracuse is the better team and should win handily.
