2026 MLS Cup Odds Movement Timeline

• September 16 – St. Louis City has been on a crazy run over the past four months! After being as as long as +20000 back in May, but the boys of The CITY are undefeated in their last fifteen matches (!), and are now +1400 to win the cup.
• July 21 – We’re officially back from the World Cup break! And the one team that’s looking forward to the return has to be the Chicago Fire. They’ve upgraded elite goalscorers, going from Hugo Cuypers to Robert Lewandowski, and have since seen their cup odds jump from a pre-World Cup +2000 to their current +1400.
• May 28 – As the league heads into a break for the World Cup, the East’s Inter Miami continue to boast league-leading MLS Cup odds as short as +300, while Western Conference leader’s Vancouver are as short as +550. Some midseason surprises include San Jose, who opened at +5000 but are now averaging +1800, and Philadelphia, last season’s Supporters Shield winners who have plummeted from +1300 in the preseason to +20000.
• May 13 – The Earthquakes continue to surprise and have moved into the Top 4 for MLS Cup odds at some sportsbooks, getting odds as short as +1200.
• April 6 – Are we finally seeing the resurgence of Toronto FC? As a result of going undefeated in their last four matches, with three wins and a draw, they’ve seen their average MLS Cup odds shorten from a season-opening +6900 to just +3375.
• March 10 – It has not been a kind start to the season for Philadelphia . The Union are the first reigning Supporters Shield winners to open the following season with three-straight losses. But the season is still young: their MLS Cup odds are only a little longer, going from +1400 to +2200.
• February 12 – Will there be an encore for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami? Bettors sure seem to think so, because the 2025 MLS Cup Champs have opened at +450 as favorites to win the league for the third year in a row. They’re followed closely by three Western Conference teams: Son Heung-Min and LAFC (+600), ’25 runners-up Vancouver (+900), and last season’s expansion upstarts, San Diego FC (+1200).

Past MLS Cup Winners

Last season, Inter Miami won their first MLS, defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in the MLS Cup final. This was the first appearance in the finals for both teams since their respective inaugural seasons in 2020 and 2011.

Coming into the 2026 season Miami, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia are favorites to win the Eastern Conference, while LAFC, Vancouver, and LA Galaxy lead the Western Conference’s contenders.

Last year’s Golden Boot winner, Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi, opened at +300 to repeat, and was followed by LAFC’s Denis Bouanga (+900) and Son Heung-Min (+1200), NYCFC’s Alonso Martinez (+1400), and Nashville SC’s Sam Surridge (+1400).

Teams with the Most MLS Cup Victories

Following their triumph in 2024, the Galaxy have won six MLS Cup Finals, and have been runners-up on four more occasions. DC United have the second-most with four, with their last title coming back in 2004.
