The 2025 US Open was played at Oakmont Country Club from June 12 to June 15, 2025. Many of the favorites struggled at Oakmont, and longshot J.J. Spaun won his first major with a final score of -1. Spaun was the only golfer who finished the tournament under par.

Spaun was +13500 to win the 2025 US Open before the tournament teed off. He had the longest pre-tournament odds to win the US Open since Lucas Glover won in 2009.

2025 US Open Golf Favorites Before the Tournament

The favorites heading into the 2025 US Open golf tournament include the top three ranked golfers in the OWGR. Those favorites are listed as follows:

Scottie Scheffler (+275)

World #1 Scottie Scheffler leads the 2025 US Open golf odds. He has seven US Open appearances under his belt. The first three were nothing to write home about – two missed cuts and a T27 finish, but he turned it around in 2022 and 2023. After a 7th-place finish in 2021, Scheffler finished second to Matt Fitzpatrick at the 2022 edition. Then in 2023, Scheffler finished third with a score of -7. Last year, Scheffler barely made the cut and had a T41 finish after shooting a +8.

Bryson DeChambeau (+750)

Bryson DeChambeau won the 2024 US Open and is a favorite to win again in 2025. He also won this tournament in 2020, so he is looking for his third US Open victory in 2025. DeChambeau had a T15 finish the last time the US Open was played at Oakmont Country Club in 2016. DeChambeau has played great in majors of late with a T5 finish at the 2025 Masters and a T2 finish at the 2025 PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy (+1400)

If it weren’t for a couple of missed putts down the stretch, Rory McIlroy would be the reigning US Open champion. Instead, McIlroy shot a -5 and finished in second. In 2025, McIlroy has the second-best odds to win the US Open. McIlroy is currently ranked second in the OWGR. He has played in 16 US Opens and won once back in 2011. While he has not won this tournament in over ten years, McIlroy has had some strong performances of late, including six consecutive top ten finishes at the US Open.
