When Could Missouri Add Online Casinos Once Sports Betting Launches?

Sports betting in the state of Missouri is set to begin on Dec. 1.
Last week, the picture became a little clearer as to what online operators would be available in the Show Me State.
With the steps toward online gambling expansion in motion, the next logical question is when we can expect online casinos in the state of Missouri?
Missouri Doesn’t Currently Have Legal Online Casinos
Real money online casinos are not legal in the state of Missouri as of now.
Currently, the state’s focus is on the launch of sports betting, both retail and online, coming Dec. 1.
There has been no serious discussions in Missouri state legislature when it comes to adding any kind of online casinos.
The addition of sports betting in the state is being done to help generate more tax revenue for Missouri.
Should that prove to be fruitful in the first year of operations, it could lead to more incentive for legislators to consider adding iCasino.
Online casinos have proven to provide more tax revenue than sportsbooks. However, legislators around the state have also been more tentative to adopt the online gambling option.
With Missouri getting into the mix, over 30 states will have legalized online sports betting. By comparison, just seven states have legalized online casinos.
States that have legal iCasino in the US are Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.
What Missouri Online Casinos Could Have
States that have launched online casinos have had a wide gaming library available.
Each tends to offer hundred and hundreds of different slot games. That includes popular titles like 88 Fortunes, Jack Hammer 4, Buffalo, Divine Fortune, Wheel of Fortune, and more.
Along with the slots, operators offer up dozens and dozens of table games, including a wide variety of live dealer games. Live dealer games are some of your favorite table games simulcasted from a studio with a real person dealing the cards, or making the spins.
When it comes to available operators, there is also likely to be a wide selection.
Often times, operators that have an online sportsbook will have an online casino option once legalized.
Last week, the Missouri Gaming Commission awarded the first two sports betting licenses in the state to DraftKings and Circa Sports. These two operators will have untethered licenses not tied to any casino in Missouri.
Altogether, 19 retail sports betting licenses and 14 online licenses will be approved by the Missouri Gaming Commission heading into the December launch.
Don’t Expect Any iGaming Expansion Soon
As we’ve seen with the sports betting rollout, these kinds of expansion don’t happen quickly.
Sports betting in the state was officially passed through legislation in November of 2024. With the official launch coming in December, that means it will have taken over a year to get the betting option off the ground.
As we’ve seen in other states, legalization of online casinos to an official launch doesn’t happen any quicker in most cases.
So, even if a bill were to be introduced and passed in 2026, online casinos wouldn’t likely be available until at least 2027.
It’s likely Missouri lawmakers are going to want to see some revenue data on sports betting before making any progress toward further online gambling expansion. Because of that, don’t expect to see any legislation that could make real progress until at least 2027.
