One week of the NFL season is in the books. We didn’t witness any major upsets; five teams were favored by six or more points, and all five won straight-up. The biggest favorite to lose was Kansas City, which dropped a 27-21 decision to the Chargers in Brazil.
The game of the week – even before kickoff – was the heavyweight tilt between the Ravens and Bills in Buffalo, and it didn’t disappoint. After Buffalo’s epic 15-point comeback in the final five minutes, the Bills leapfrogged both the Ravens and Eagles at the top of the Super Bowl odds.
Below, I have set out the NFL Power Rankings after Week 1 based on the updated Super Bowl odds at BetMGM and ESPN Bet.
NFL Power Rankings After Week 1 (Based on Odds)
There is a clear top-five in the NFL Power Rankings after Week 1: #1 Buffalo Bills, #2 Baltimore Ravens, #3 Philadelphia Eagles, #4 Green Bay Packers, #5 Kansas City Chiefs.

Packers Moving up in NFL Power Rankings
Arguably the most-impressive performance of Week 1 was Green Bay’s 27-13 beatdown of the reigning NFC #1 seed Detroit Lions. With Micah Parsons anchoring the D-line, the Packers held the mighty Lions offense to just 246 total yards while generating four sacks (one from Parsons) and an interception.
Jordan Love and the offense were far from perfect, but the offensive line didn’t allow a single sack against Aidan Hutchinson and company, and they didn’t turn the ball over, which was enough to distance their NFC North rivals.
Green Bay was a touch behind Detroit in the Super Bowl odds heading into Week 1. Now they’re nearly twice as short.
Bills the New #1 Team in NFL Power Rankings After Week 1
The Bills headed into Week 1 the #3 team in the Super Bowl Power Rankings. After their epic, historic comeback against the Ravens – the former #1 team – the Bills took over top spot, leapfrogging the defending-champion Eagles in the process.
The Bills scored 16 points in the final 3:56 of the fourth quarter to stun Baltimore, 41-40.
There are big concerns in the front seven after Derrick Henry tore Buffalo apart for 169 yard and two TDs on just 18 carries (9.4 YPC). But Josh Allen was otherworldly, going 33-of-46 for 394 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, while adding another 30 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
The reigning NFL MVP shot right back to the top of the 2025 NFL MVP odds after Week 1. After opening at +650 to repeat, Allen’s longest odds after Week 1 are just +340 (at BetMGM). The last man to repeat as AP NFL MVP was Aaron Rodgers in 2020-2021.
