Chargers vs Raiders Player Prop Pick #1: Justin Herbert Over 254.5 Passing Yards

The first leg points me towards Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert tossing for 255 or more yards. In the first game of the season against Kansas City, he blew way over that mark, putting up 318 yards.

In six of his nine career games against the Raiders, the Chargers pivot has gone over that yardage through the air. In the opening contest to their campaign, Las Vegas struggled against the pass, surrendering 287 yards to Drake Maye and the Patriots. In 2024, the silver and black were a middle of the road team against the pass, ranking 16th in the NFL.

In his last four regular season affairs, Herbert has tossed for 318, 346, 281 and 284 yards. I expect more of the same from him to get our player props humming. Sascha Paruk’s Chargers vs Raiders picks, which target LAC against the spread and the over, also hinge on a big night from Herbert against a suspect Las Vegas pass defense.

LAC vs LV Player Props Pick #2: Ladd McConkey Over 73.5 Receiving Yards

If we’re going to go with Justin Herbert having a strong game, it only makes sense to pair that with his favorite target in the passing game. In the first game versus Kansas City, Herbert looked to McConkey often, completing six passes to him for 74 yards on nine targets.

Ladd McConkey was top-10 in receiving yards (1,149) in 2024 as a rookie wideout and he came on extremely strong down the stretch, with 70+ yards in eight of his last nine outings, followed by 74 yards in Week 1 vs the Chiefs.

On three of those occasions, he reached triple digits in yards, with totals of 123, 117, then a gargantuan 197 yards in a postseason affair against the Texans. In Week 1, the Raiders coughed up 103 yards to receiver Kayshon Boutte, which could be repeated by McConkey. Instead of being too risky with a wager of 100+ yards, a more modest 70+ yards is a prudent play.

Chargers vs Raiders Player Props Pick #3: Ashton Jeanty Anytime Touchdown

The final leg of this trifecta of player props features the Raiders’ rookie running back Ashton Jeanty finding pay dirt. A Pete Carroll coached team will always try to establish the run, and while Jeanty didn’t rack up tons of yards Week 1 (38 vs NE), he was able to find the end zone.

There’s a possibility that tight end Brock Bowers won’t be able to suit up, which alters the odds considerably for who might record a TD for the Raiders. Even if he’s able to play, there’s a chance he’ll be on a ‘pitch count’, where the Raiders will more heavily lean on Jeanty.
