  • The New York State Gaming Commission reported $550.4 million in online sports betting handle for the week ending Sept. 28
  • The state has reported nearly $2.2 billion in online sports betting so far in September
  • 2025 September handle totals are outpacing 2024 September, but gross gaming revenues are lagging

New York online sports betting’s first month of the football season has seen impressive handle totals, but gross gaming revenues may be lagging behind September 2024 levels.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported $550.4 million in online sports betting handle for the week ending Sept. 28, a slight decline from the previous week’s totals, but September as a whole has so far lived up to expectations for the first month of the football season.

Through the first 28 days of September, New York online sports betting customers have wagered more than $2.16 billion in September, already eclipsing the August total of $2.04 billion.

September 2025 Revenues May Not Eclipse September 2024

While the state has geared up into football season, the September 2025 revenue totals may not reach the same zenith as September 2024. So far, the New York State Gaming Commission has reported $194,566,019 in gross gaming revenues for the month, with just two days left unreported.

However, in September 2024 the state reported $204,710,934 in gross gaming revenue. While two days are still left unreported for this month (which will include a Monday Night Football doubleheader), it may prove to be too little to eclipse the September 2024 gross gaming revenue totals.

The state has already seen more money bet through the first 28 days of September 2025, $2,167,616,099, than the entirety of September 2024’s total of $2,071,515,109.

For the last full week of September 2025, however, the state did end on a slight down note. The New York State Gaming Commission reported $550,406,867 in online sports betting handle for the week ending Sept. 28, a $5.4 million decrease from the previous week. Additionally, the commission reported $50,236,181 in gross gaming revenue, a $6.6 million decrease from the previous week.

At the state’s 51% tax rate, New York reported $25,620,452 in tax revenues for the week.

DraftKings Most Profitable Operator of Week

DraftKings reported a total handle of $200.2 million for the week and $23.2 million in gross gaming revenue. While FanDuel topped DraftKings in weekly handle with $203.9 million, it had almost less than $10 million in gross gaming revenue with a weekly total of $13.7 million.

Fanatics maintained its status as a top-three operator in the Empire State, reporting $45.4 million in total handle and $4.5 million in gross gaming revenue.

The New York State Gaming Commission releases handle and revenue reports for its nine live NY sports betting apps, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, ESPN BET, and BetRivers, at the conclusion of each week.
