A Conference USA showdown takes place on Tuesday night as the Kennesaw State Owls (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) take on the Florida International Panthers (3-3 SU, 4-2 ATS).
Kennesaw enters with extra rest after a bye, and defeated Louisiana Tech 35-7 their last time out. FIU was just as impressive last week, taking down Western Kentucky 25-6. Kickoff is set for 7 pm ET from Pitbull Stadium in Miami, Florida on ESPN 2.
Get in on the Kennesaw State vs FIU action with my prediction and all the betting odds, below.
Kennesaw State vs FIU Prediction
I’m backing the Owls to win big in this one. Kennesaw State is rolling right now, and while FIU’s sandwiched a couple of victories over Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky, the Panthers have been utterly dominated by Penn State (fair), Delaware, and even UConn.
Strip away FIU’s 34-0 shutout to Penn State and they begin to look a lot less dire. But, Kennesaw State is averaging 38.5 points per game over their last four wins, and they’ve got the skill position talent necessary to exploit FIU’s secondary, which is giving up 7.9 yards per pass in conference tilts.
On top of that, the Panthers lack of a passing offense should lead to a Kennesaw State blowout. FIU’s chance of pulling off an upset stand on a rushing attack averaging 4.8 yards per carry. However, if the defense giving up for 400 yards per game can’t stand tall, their ground game will be irrelevant. Lay the points with the Owls on Tuesday night.

Kennesaw State Betting Trends
Led by quarterback’s Dexter Williams II and Amari Odom, the Owls have won four straight games since falling to Wake Forest and Indiana. Williams lit up Louisiana Tech in Kennesaw State’s last game, passing for 290 yard and four touchdowns.
The former Indiana pivot has thrown for 526 yards with four touchdowns and just one interception this season. Kennesaw State’s balanced offense will be key in this one, as the Owls rank 71st in rushing yards (144 per game), and 75th in passing yards (221.2).
Additionally, the Owls have been strong defensively all year, allowing just 22 points per game. Kennesaw State is also a top team at defending their own end zone, surrendering a touchdown on just 75% of opponent red zone trips.
Kennesaw State has been an under team, as five of their last seven road contests have finished under the total. The Owls are also a sparkling 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games played.
Further to that point, the Owls are 7-2 SU in their lats nine games when holding opponents under 21 points, which feels like a lock given FIU’s 10.6 points per game across their last three contests.
FIU Betting Trends
FIU has one of the worst offenses in the country. The Panthers score just 17.8 points per game (113th), and average only 5.7 yards per pass (126th), while converting 31% of third-downs (120th). Quarterback Keyone Jenkins has thrown for 959 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions.
The junior from Miami has taken eight sacks, while leading an offense that has turned the ball over 1.2 times per game this season, and is dead last at converting third-downs in the conference.
Defensively, the Panthers are even worse, surrendering 31.4 points (105th) and 422 yards per game (102nd). FIU needs to rely on their rushing attack to keep them in this football game. The Panthers run for 181 yards per game, on 4.8 yards per carry. But, if the defense keeps giving up explosive plays, it could be a long night in Pitbull Stadium.
That being said, FIU is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games at home. However, the Panthers are just 5-14 SU in their last 19 Conference USA games.
