Syracuse vs Georgia Tech Prediction

Georgia Tech has cracked the Top 10, and they look like they could be undefeated heading into their game vs Georgia to end the regular season. The Yellow Jackets are 5-2 against the spread this season and are led by dual-threat quarterback Haynes King.

King has been efficient, completing 70.6% of his passes and averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He leads the team with 10 rushing touchdowns on the season, and Georgia Tech’s rushing attack is dynamic with King, Jamal Haynes, and Malachi Hosley. The Yellow Jackets are second in the ACC in rushing yards per game with 228.4.

Brent Key has been great as the Georgia Tech head coach and has built this program as a tough, hard-fought football team. Their defense has been vulnerable, however, as they have allowed over 370 yards per game. They also give up the most rushing yards in the ACC.

Syracuse started the year strong. Despite what the score said, they showed fight against Tennessee. Then they won three straight, including an upset on the road at Clemson. Quarterback Steve Angeli tore his Achilles tendon in that Clemson game, so Rickie Collins has been starting for the Orange. Syraucse has lost three straight heading into this game.

Collins has thrown for 634 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions in those starts. Still, Syracuse is second in the conference in passing yards per game with 294.3. Wide receiver Johntay Cook has been a reliable target for this offense and will need to have a big game if they want to keep this game close.

Syracuse’s defense has not been much better than Georgia Tech’s. Syracuse allows the second-most rushing yards per game in the ACC with 151.6. That will be a matchup that the Yellow Jackets want to target.

I am picking Syracuse to cover this large spread. Georgia Tech should win this game, and I like what I have seen from the Yellow Jackets, but this is too many points for them to lay. The only teams that Georgia Tech has beaten by that margin are Gardner-Webb and Temple.

Fran Brown is a good coach who will have his team ready to go in this game. There has been a lot of movement in the Top 10 over the last few weeks, and it appears no team is safe. Could Georgia Tech be the next team to struggle?

This Orange team already has a big road victory in the conference after upsetting Clemson, and they will be heading into the game thinking they can play spoiler yet again.

Syracuse will be able to run the ball against this defense to take pressure off their young quarterback. If Collins and Syracuse can limit the turnovers, this game should be closer than the spread suggests.
