Nathan MacKinnon put up nine points over the weekend to lead the league with 29. Leo Carlsson has matched that pace with 19 points in his last 10, tied for second in NHL scoring at 25 points. Puck drops at 9:30 pm ET from Ball Arena.

Advanced stats back the Avs here. Over their last 10 games, Colorado has dominated possession with a 55.54% Corsi for, 57.73% shot share, and 59.02% expected goals. Most impressive is their 63.73% share of high-danger chances, meaning they create almost two top-quality chances for every one they allow.

Anaheim’s 9-1-0 record in their last 10 games looks impressive, but the underlying numbers tell a different story. The Ducks are below 50% in all major possession stats: 48.92% Corsi for, 46.10% shot share, and 46.94% expected goals. They’re being outplayed but still finding ways to win.

How are they doing it? Anaheim is shooting 13.75%, which is second in the NHL, and their PDO is 1.080. These numbers usually don’t last. Dostal has been strong in net with a .908 save percentage, but over time, the underlying stats tend to even out.

Colorado’s defense is the difference maker. They allow just 2.50 goals per game (2nd in NHL) compared to Anaheim’s 3.07 (15th). The Avs lead the league with 33.94 shots per game and control territory at altitude better than anyone.

Special teams might decide the game. Anaheim’s power play scores at 23.7%, ranking ninth, while Colorado’s is at 17.5%, which is 24th. However, the Avalanche have a top penalty kill at 88.5% (third), while the Ducks are at 76.5% (22nd). That’s a big edge for Colorado.

MacKinnon is riding a nine-game point streak with 19 points in that span. He leads the NHL with 14 goals and 29 points. Cale Makar is the highest-scoring defenseman with 22 points. Martin Necas has 19 points, and Artturi Lehkonen scored twice on Sunday.

Cutter Gauthier leads Anaheim with 20 points in 15 games. Carlsson has 25 points, and Troy Terry sits at 19. Both lineups feature serious firepower, but Colorado’s two-way game gives them the edge. The Avs are deserved home favorites in the Tuesday NHL odds.

I’m backing the Avs on the puck line. Their possession dominance at home, elite defensive structure, and MacKinnon’s current form make them the play. Anaheim’s hot streak is built on shooting luck that should cool off against Colorado’s quality. The plus-money price offers value when you’re backing the better team.

Head-to-head trends favor Colorado in this matchup. The Avs have won seven of the last eight in Denver and 17 of the last 22 overall. In the most recent meeting in Denver, Colorado outshot Anaheim 49-19 but only won by one goal. The Ducks are 1-7 in their last eight at Ball Arena.

Anaheim will be without Mikael Granlund, Radko Gudas, and Ryan Strome. Colorado is missing Samuel Girard, Joel Kiviranta, and Logan O’Connor.

The NHL betting trends point to goals. The over has hit in nine of Anaheim’s last ten after allowing two or fewer, and in four of Colorado’s last five after scoring five or more. Both offenses are rolling.

Best Ducks vs Avalanche Odds

Colorado is now a massive -260 favorite on the moneyline at Bet365 and is giving 1.5 goals at +100 on the puck line. Those are the best odds we can find for the Avs, who were much shorter -225 favorites earlier in the day.

The best price for Anaheim to pull off an upset is +220 on DraftKings. The total, meanwhile, is set at either 6.5 or 7 goals depending on the sportsbook. Bet365 is offering Over 6.5 at -135 odds.

Ducks vs Avalanche Starting Goalies

Lukas Dostal will start for Anaheim with an 8-3-1 record and a 2.66 goals-against average. He’s been outstanding during the winning streak, posting a .958 save percentage against Vancouver in his last start and .970 against New Jersey before that. Dostal has six straight wins.

Scott Wedgewood gets the call for Colorado at 9-1-2 with a 2.36 GAA. Although he may not have as much raw talent as starter MacKenzie Blackwood, Wedgewood is the goalie you want to see in the Avs crease if you’re backing Colorado.

The 33-year-old is 3-0-1 all-time vs. Anaheim and has allowed two or fewer goals in back-to-back starts. Meanwhile, Blackwood is still fighting through rust concerns following his return from injury.
