No. 10 Texas travels to battle No. 5 Georgia in an SEC Week 12 college football clash. The Bulldogs enter as 6.5-point home favorites after thrashing Mississippi State last week, while the Longhorns outlasted Vanderbilt 34-31. Texas vs Georgia kicks off from Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia at 7:30 pm ET over on ABC.

Texas vs Georgia Prediction

• Pick: Texas +6.5 (-115)

This has all the makings of a classic SEC slugfest. Two powerhouse programs go head-to-head with college football playoff implications hanging over each and every step. At 7-2, Texas can’t afford another loss, and while Georgia is 8-1, the Bulldogs haven’t exactly been blowing the doors off anyone lately.

Kirby Smart’s once dominant defense is far from its glory days. The Bulldogs rank 100th in EPA allowed per pass and are just 58th in defensive success rate.

Georgia’s pass rush has been missing in action, and the Bulldogs are hardly creating any game-changing plays, ranking 128th in sack percentage and 119th in opponent interception percentage. That plays right into Arch Manning and the Texas offense’s hands.

Meanwhile, the Texas defense ranks within the top 20 in defensive efficiency and stuff rate, which will neutralize Georgia’s ground game and force Gunner Stockton to win the game.

The Longhorns have covered in four of their last five games as underdogs, and this feels like another showdown where they grind out a backdoor cover.

Arch Manning Props

Georgia’s secondary has softened up this season, allowing close to 220 yards per game. With Texas needing to air it out as underdogs, expect Manning to push 250 yards against an underperforming Bulldogs pass-rush.

Manning has cleared this line five times this season and hit at least 320 passing yards in back-to-back contests.

Similarly, Arch is averaging two passing touchdowns per game this season, and has thrown for three scores in each of his last two games. Manning looks to be over his early-season maladies, and with the Longhorns’ offense rolling on all cylinders, I like him to throw at least two scores again on Saturday night.

Remember, the Longhorns had a bye week to prepare for this one, and Georgia doesn’t have the elite secondary the Bulldogs have been known for in the past.

In five SEC games this season, Manning has crossed his 21.5 rushing yards prop just twice. With the Georgia defense allowing just 3.3 yards per rush, and allowing more explosive plays through the air, Arch is unlikely to find the rushing lanes needed to cross this line.

He’s rushed for just nine total yards over the last three games, and ran just once against Vandy his last time out. I’m fading his rushing yards in the Week 12 college football player props.

Georgia are 6.5-point favorites in the closing Week 12 college football odds. The Texas vs Georgia total is set at 49.5 with under favored at -112 and the over at -108.

Moneyline bettors are all over the Bulldogs with 83% of tickets on Georgia to win. However, 51% of spread bets are on the Longhorns to cover in the college football public betting splits.
