The Big Ten dust has settled, leaving the No. 2-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) to battle it out with the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) next weekend in the conference championship game.
Indiana punched its ticket on Black Friday, finishing an undefeated regular season by pumping Purdue 56-3. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes just smacked around Michigan this afternoon to complete the same perfect regular season.
The college football odds are siding with the defending national champion-Buckeyes in this matchup at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis.
Action gets underway Saturday at 8pm ET, with FOX carrying the broadcast.

Ohio State vs Indiana Matchup
The Hoosiers are likely the team that wanted this matchup, ever since last year’s 38-15 whipping at the hands of the Buckeyes, bursting the bubble on their perfect season, and having the critics wonder if the program was actually ready for prime time.
Flash forward a year later, and Indiana has levelled up, leading the Big Ten in scoring at a whopping 44.3 points per game, and running through conference.
Their signature wins include a 30-20 triumph over 3rd-ranked Oregon on October 11. Their only other ranked opponent was 9th-ranked Illinois, and the Hoosiers blasted them out of the water in a 63-10 romp.
Indiana’s is paced by QB Fernando Mendoza, currently the betting favorite in the 2025 Heisman Trophy odds. He’s thrown for 2,758 yards and 32 touchdowns against just five picks. They also boast a rush attack that churns out 250.6 yards per game.
Ohio State will enter on a high after beating up on Michigan 27-9 in a must-win to punch their ticket to the title game. They’re a perfect three-for-three against ranked foes on the year, starting with a season-opening win over No. 1 Texas, then clubbing 17th-ranked Illinois 34-16 before dispatching the 15th-ranked Wolverines.
Right behind Mendoza on that Heisman board is Buckeyes’ pivot Julian Sayin, who has thrown for 2,832 yards, 27 touchdowns and just four picks. He helped push Ohio State to third in Big Ten scoring at 37.9 points per game.
Behind Sayin, Ohio State ranked first in passing yards at 270.1 yards per game in the conference, and managed a healthy 170.2 yards per game on the ground.
Early Ohio State vs Indiana Prediction
- Pick: Ohio State -6.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

Besides the obvious title pedigree from winning it all a season ago, and the big brother-little brother sort of relationship these teams have in the Big Ten, the one major factor in determining who wins this is the Ohio State defense.
That unit is far and away the best in college football, and it’s the biggest reason I’m backing the Buckeyes in the Indiana vs Ohio State matchup.
Ohio State led the country in yards allowed per game at 206.6. No other team in the nation came under 240 yards. They allowed a national-low 126.6 passing yards per contest, and a paltry 80 rushing yards per game, and are the only team in college football to hold their opponents to under 10 total touchdowns combined on the year.
Indiana wasn’t a slouch, ranking second in the Big Ten in points allowed at 10.9 (to Ohio State’s 7.6), and their run defense ranked first in the Big Ten, at 79.3 per contest.
Still, it’s one thing to be on somewhat the same statistical plane as your opponent, and another altogether to knock them off the perch. Until Indiana can do this, Ohio State will own that advantage in both the public and the betting public’s eye.
At 9-1-1 against the spread, the Buckeyes also have the best cover record in college football, with Indiana checking in at 6-5-0 ATS on the season.
