Pre-Registration Numbers Huge

According to GeoComply, Missouri online sportsbook customers recorded more than 2.6 million geolocation checks throughout the Show-Me State during the first 24 hours of legal online sports betting. A geolocation check is not a bet, but a registered sportsbook customers logging into their account.

“Missouri has shown for years that it’s one of the most eager states in the country for legal sports betting,” said Kip Levin, GeoComply CEO, in a released statement. “What we’ve seen in the first 24 hours is remarkable. Tens of thousands of Missourians immediately joined safe, regulated platforms the moment they became legal. It’s a powerful reminder of how quickly consumers embrace a well-regulated market when the option finally exists.”

Leading up to Monday’s launch, GeoComply reported nearly 188,000 accounts were pre-registered between Nov. 17 and Nov. 30.

GeoComply will next release data after a full week of Missouri sports betting, which will showcase the recorded activity during the Kansas City Chiefs’ primetime home matchup against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 8:20 p.m.

Missouri Three Days Into Sports Betting

Missouri launched sports betting on Monday, Dec. 1, with eight licensed online sports betting operators opening their markets for thousands of customers.

However, the state opened without one of its previously licensed operators. Underdog withdrew its temporary online sports betting license from the state, instead shifting its focus to prediction contract offerings. Missouri Gaming Commission Chairman Jan M. Zimmerman confirmed the license withdrawal to Sports Betting Dime and a separate member of the commission provided this comment:

Underdog confirmed the license withdrawal, but did not offer any further comment.

Additionally, PENN Entertainment no longer offers ESPN BET in the state. PENN Entertainment and ESPN BET Missouri ceased their 10-year sports betting partnership in early November, with PENN officially rebranding its sports betting platform to theScore Bet on Dec. 1.

Customers can now register accounts for theScore Bet in the state. Previously registered ESPN BET accounts in the state automatically rebranded to theScore Bet, according to a PENN spokesperson, with all funds and promos automatically transferring to the new platform.
