The holidays are all about tradition, and one of the ones I look most forward to each Christmas Eve is the Hawaii Bowl. This year, the Rainbow Warriors (8-4) will play host to Cal (7-5), with Hawaii earning its first Bowl appearance in the Timmy Chang era.
The Rainbow Warriors’ eight-win season was fuelled by a very strong defense, and I think that unit can slow down this Bears’ offensive attack. I’m especially bullish on Hawaii’s run defense, making Cal RB Kendrick Raphael an easy fade in my Cal vs Hawaii player prop picks.

Cal vs Hawaii Player Props Bet #1: Kendrick Raphael Rushing Yards
- Kendrick Raphael Under 77.5 Rushing Yards (-114 at FanDuel)
The Rainbow Warriors have been stout against the run all season, and I’m not expecting that to change tonight. They rank well above average in rushing yards allowed per carry and per game, and do an excellent job of limiting explosives.
Cal, meanwhile, hasn’t been able to run the football all season. Their offensive line grades out 128th in run block win rate, and they rank 136th in rushing yards per carry and per game.
Raphael has fallen short of 78 rushing yards in seven of 12 contests so far, and ranks outside the top-150 among qualified running backs in yards per attempt.

As for the Hawaii offense, it’s about as pass-happy as a unit can be. The Rainbow Warriors throw at the nation’s fifth-highest rate, while QB Michal Alejado ranks 36th in passing yards despite missing two starts.
The freshman has five starts on his 2025 resume with at least 46 pass attempts, and when he airs it out tonight, it’s pretty clear where he’ll be going.
Pofele Ashlock will be his main target, just like he’s been all year. That will be amplified tonight with the Rainbow Warriors most explosive wide receiver Jackson Harris showing up in the college football opt outs tracker. His absence boosts Ashlock’s ceiling, as does the type of coverage Cal likes to deploy.
Cal Pass Defense Stats
The Bears play a ton of cover 3, which Ashlock can eat up from the slot. The junior wideout leads the team in broken tackles on pass plays, and has already racked up three 100+ receiving games this season.
Cal vs Hawaii Same-Game Parlay
Moving over to the same-game parlay streets, where I’m paring my favorite player prop picks with an anytime TD for Ashlock. He’s scored 21 times over the course of his college career, and will need to fill the void left behind by Harris and his 12 receiving scores.
Alejado averages 2+ TD throws per game, and no one left on the roster outside of Ashlock has hit pay dirt more than three times through the air.
I’ll bet each Rafael and Ashlock prop individually, and then all together in a same-game parlay with a potential +321 pay out.
