Best NBA All-Star Game Parlay For The People

It’s been a few days without our regularly scheduled NBA, and if we’re being honest, we need it back. There’s just something about being able to take some rando to hit 2+ threes that really gets the blood pumping. Without it, there’s just not as much joy in our lives. Lucky for us, we’ve got the NBA All-Star Game tonight. It looks different than it did when we were kids, but we can still bet on it (I checked), so we’re good. What they’re doing this year is breaking the guys down into three different teams. The USA vs the World. We’ve got two USA teams (Stars & Stripes) and one World team. They’ll play a little round robin tournament (12-minute games) with the top two teams advancing to a final game where the winner takes all. We need to get down on this thing. Feels like the move.

NBA All-Star Game Parlay Leg #1 – Kevin Durant Poked the Bear
NBA players talk a lot of trash. We’ve all seen them do it. If we’re being honest with ourselves, it might be the best part of the NBA experience. We need passion in our lives, and damn it, the NBA is full of a bunch of passionate guys.
One such passionate guy who has never been scared to speak his mind is Kevin Durant.
Durant is on team Stripes, so his crew will have to wait to see the World team. The first game of the day will be the World vs Stars. The thing is, he poked the bear with all he had to say about the World team. None of the stuff was out of bounds, or anything like that, but my guess is everyone on the World team shows up ready to compete against whoever they play. They just so happen to be playing the Stars first.
The angle we’re taking here is that “competitive” streak will show its face on defense. Anyone who has ever watched an NBA All-Star Game in the past knows these guys don’t play defense in the exhibition. That seems like it will change in this edition of the game. We’re basically looking at a one-quarter death match, so points might be at more of a premium than the books think. We could easily see a 41-37 type game that wouldn’t quite reach the total. As much as I hate to say it, the under looks appealing.

NBA All-Star Game Parlay Leg #2 – Another Point Shortage Coming
In the second game of the night, we’re going to see the Stripes take on whoever won the first game. I’m kind of hoping the World team stays on to play Game 2, but at the end of the day, I don’t really think it matters too much. At some point, the Stripes are going to have to play the World, and I’m here for it.
I’m not the only one, either. So is Nikola Jokic.
As we talked about earlier, we should see a dogfight. Whether they admit it or not, none of these guys wants their effort questioned. They don’t care who it’s by. The fact that they’re getting called out by a living legend playing in this game just makes it worse. Defense could actually be played because of this.
Still, this move isn’t 100% narrative based. It’s a time thing. They’re literally only playing one quarter of basketball. I get that these guys are the best basketball players in the world, but 83 points is a big number for a single quarter. If I had to guess, I’d say by the time tipoff rolls around, these numbers won’t exist. If I were in charge, I’d price these totals in the 70s. Since I’m not, there is value to be had on the under. Feels right.
