Stefon Diggs Next Team Odds – Prediction Markets Split on Most Likely Destination

A staggering amount of money was handed out on Monday to NFL free agents, but after the dust settled Stefon Diggs remains without a new contract. The wideout was recently released by the Patriots after a Super Bowl run, but there are plenty of teams that could use his services.

According to Prediction Markets, the Chargers are his most likely destination, but I believe a different AFC West team is the best bet to sign him.

At the time of writing, Kalshi gives the Chargers a 59% chance of landing Diggs. That equals -144 odds in traditional sports betting terms, but I don’t think the fit is strong enough to justify such a short price.

After LAC, the Ravens and Chiefs are being assigned the next highest chance of signing Diggs, at 51% and 50% respectively. I’m not sold on the fit for either one of those teams either, but I am buying in on the Broncos and their 39% chance.

Where Diggs Isn’t an Ideal Fit

I think we can all agree Diggs is no longer a true number one. The Seahawks proved he can be taken out of a game entirely in the Super Bowl, and no team with championship aspirations should be viewing him as their alpha.

The Chargers have a ton of cap space available to spend, but bringing in another small, slot dominant receiver doesn’t seem like a smart business move. Diggs is nearly an identical player to Ladd McConkey at this stage of his career, and the ladder is much younger and cheaper.

If the Chargers are going to make a splash this offseason they’ll look to do so by grabbing an elite outside threat, and I think they make a lot more sense as a potential AJ Brown destination rather than a Diggs one.

As for the Ravens and Chiefs, it’s not hard to poke holes in either one of their cases. Yes, they’re both legit Super Bowl odds contenders, but Diggs would be redundant in a Baltimore offense that also features Zay Flower, while the Ravens are already $10 million over the cap.

KC meanwhile, just emptied the piggy bank for Kenneth Walker, and already feature a large group of receivers who do their best work inside. The Chiefs are still looking for an outside deep threat, which is why the connection to Tyreek Hill remains so strong.

The Broncos Check the Boxes

Sticking in the AFC West, where I believe Diggs will ultimately land. Denver is the perfect spot for him, as he can patrol the slot while Courtland Sutton occupies the outside.

Diggs still has plenty of good football left, but he needs to be deployed strategically. As the Broncos number two, he’d draw favorable matchups inside, and few coaches are as good at maximizing slot talent as Sean Payton is. Don’t forget, he turned Michael Thomas into an All-Pro, who was then out of the league not long after Payton left New Orelands.

The Broncos are in win now mode, with arguably the best defense in football. The only thing missing is another reliable receiver or two for Bo Nix, and Diggs would immediately fill that need. He currently has a 39% of signing in Denver, which equates to a nice +156 pay day if the wager hits.
