We’re getting to the end of the NBA season, which is the best time to bet on NBA Basketball. The bad teams are tanking, so they’re playing with the injury report on a daily basis. The good teams are jockeying for playoff position, so they’re also playing with the injury report every day, trying to keep guys fresh. The constant nonsense keeps us bettors in the game because the books have a hard time pricing these situations. It’s beautiful.

Tonight, we’ll focus on two good teams, both of which are known to play with the injury report from time to time. We’re talking the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:30 pm ET on Prime. Each side could be missing a regular or two, so there is value to be had. All we have to do is find it. Lucky for us, I did thousands of mental simulations on this thing, so we’re all set. Celtics/Thunder Parlay Leg #1 – Chet Is Kind Of Nasty

We’re going to start on the Thunder side since they are the defending champs. They’re in a good spot to make another run this season, with the only thing standing in their way being injuries. They’re a load management team, though, and being that it’s already March and their roster is basically intact, they should be fine.

One guy they seem hellbent on keeping healthy is Chet Holmgren. And for good reason.

So far this season, Chet has missed 10 games with various ailments, including each of the Thunder’s last two contests. He’s off the injury report for tonight, so he should be good to go. That’s good news since fellow big man Isaiah Hartenstein is still out. Without Hartenstein, Chet should see all the minutes he can handle at the center position.

We could go for Chet’s 10+ rebounds, but I’m thinking we get a little creative and go with the double-double. It’s a better price, and it’s hard to imagine Chet not scoring 10+ points. Logically speaking, if we like his 10+ rebounds at -102, we have to like the double-double at +120. Now throw in the fact that Chet has recorded a double-double in each of the last five games Hartenstein has missed. Feels easy.

Celtics/Thunder Parlay Leg #2 – Isaiah Joe Can Shoot The Lights Out

We just need one more move at this point, and we can call it a day. Some people like to have a guy on both teams, so they have a better rooting interest, but not me. What if this game turns out to be a blowout? In that situation, we’ll want both of our guys to be on the winning team’s side. I don’t think that will happen in this game, but with the Thunder, it’s always a possibility.

That’s why I’m thinking we take a microwave scorer like Isaiah Joe.

Obviously, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the man in Oklahoma City when it comes to scoring, but the books do a very good job of pricing him. It’s the ancillary pieces that they have trouble with. It’s not even their fault because of how many different lineups we’ve seen out of the Thunder this season. It’s crazy.

I’m thinking we go with the hot hand in Isaiah Joe. For starters, he’s gone over this number in four of his last five games. He’s a three-ball guy that can stack points in a hurry, and the Celtics are a team that lets guys shoot threes. On the season, only four teams in the entire NBA have seen their opponents take more three-point attempts. My guess is we see volume from the Thunder’s perimeter players, and Joe fits that description. He could score 12+ points in the first half. Feels easy.
