This weekend has been all about the college kids and March Madness, but the weekend is almost over. At some point (tomorrow), we’ll be forced to turn our attention back to the NBA. If we’re being honest, it’s fine. We love the NBA. But I’m thinking we head back a little earlier than tomorrow. In fact, I think we should go back tonight.

We’ve got a prime-time, marquee matchup on NBC at 8:00 pm ET between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics. I know Anthony Edwards is out, but the game still counts as a marquee matchup somehow. It just does. We’ve still got Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Julius Randle (I’m trying here). All we have to do is find two bets that have no chance of losing, tie them together in a little SGP, and we’ll have the perfect springboard into a new week of NBA betting. Feels easy.

Timberwolves/Celtics SGP Leg #1 – Ayo Dosunmu Can Hit Threes

We know we’re not going to see Anthony Edwards tonight. It sucks, and I hate it, but it’s something we’ll just have to get over. The thing is, anytime a superstar is out, his absence opens up usage for other guys. That’s just how basketball works.

In the current Minnesota Timberwolves/Anthony Edwards situation, Ayo Dosunmu is the guy soaking up all the excess usage.

Dosunmu made news the other day after saying midrange shots were “prohibited” in Chicago, and now that he’s in Minnesota, he’s taking more midrange shots. A lot of people will take that to mean he doesn’t shoot threes anymore, but that just isn’t true. He’s played three games in Minnesota without Anthony Edwards, and he’s taken more and more threes each game. Last game, he chucked up six attempts (made three).

Tonight, the Wolves will see the Boston Celtics, who allow their opponents to take more threes than almost anyone. We’re talking fourth most in the NBA this season. Dosunmu himself has seen the Celtics three times this year as a member of the Chicago Bulls, and he hit at least two threes in all three of those games. It would take an act from God for him not to hit 2+ three-pointers tonight. Feels easy.

Timberwolves/Celtics Parlay Leg #2 – Ayo Dosunmu Does All The Things

We should just make this Ayo Dosunmu night. As I mentioned before, he’s soaking up usage at a high rate, and not only that, he’s producing because of it. Plus, FanDuel has a profit boost on 3+ leg SGPs today. All we have to do is find two more markets for Ayo, and we’re getting boosted like the kings (and queens) we are.

With the way Ayo has been filling up the stat sheets lately, this should be easy.

The obvious market to look at first is rebounds. I know Ayo is playing with a big-time rebounder in Rudy Gobert, but over his last two games, Dosunmu has pulled down 19 rebounds. The guy looks like prime Dennis Rodman out there. And since the Celtics shoot 1000 threes a game, the rebounds are longer, so guards are more involved. Over their last five games, shooting guards are averaging 10 rebounds per game. We only need Ayo to grab four.

The other market that deserves a look is the assists market. Ayo has always been a share-the-ball guy, and that hasn’t changed in Minnesota. Over his last two games, we’re talking 19 potential assists. Now he’s going to see a Celtics team that has allowed 7.6 assists to the shooting guard position over their last five games. It’s like God got together with FanDuel and said “here, take this money.” Feels easy.
