Last Sunday at Darlington Raceway, Tyler Reddick decided to simply win again. It is his fourth victory in six races, because apparently, the rest of the field has collectively agreed to take the spring off. Martinsville is a 0.526-mile paperclip that looks like it was drawn by someone who hates race cars.

The straightaways are asphalt. The corners are concrete. The vibes are hostile.

And that concrete matters.

Because while the straightaways lull you into thinking this is a normal short track, the corners immediately remind you that grip is optional and braking is a full-contact activity. Drivers hammer the stop pedal like it owes them money, rotors glow like a space heater in January, and by Lap 300 everyone is just negotiating with physics.

Keselowski posted the 25th-best practice score in our model when combining short- and long-run metrics, then followed it up by qualifying 23rd, which is not ideal unless your strategy involves passing 22 cars at Martinsville without committing a felony.

Preece, meanwhile, qualified 17th but the underlying speed metrics tell a different story. He had our eighth-best practice score. Quietly fast. It’s the kind of speed that doesn’t show up on the broadcast until he’s suddenly running ninth and the announcers act surprised.

Preece’s Top-10 number at +130 is the floor. This number should only improve tomorrow morning when sportsbooks first offer it, but will probably yo-yo back down as the market settles and people realize he’s legitimately live at this track.

He’s a modified guy…a short-track lifer…a Martinsville specialist.

The guy can definitely boogie, and he probably loves the hot dogs to boot.

So yes, we’re betting him in the matchup. And yes, we’re betting this positional prop.

Because if this finally cashes…it’s not just a win, it’s closure.
