On Wednesday, the heated rivalry between the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild continues, with their series tied at one game apiece. The NHL Playoff Bracket has it even-steven, following Dallas’ Game 2 victory that denied Minny the chance to go up 2-0 in a playoff series for the first time in their history.
Online sportsbooks are siding with Minnesota to rebound in the Game 3 NHL odds, with the Stars the underdog for the first time this series.
Puck drop for this Western Conference grudge match is scheduled for 8:30 pm CT / 9:30 pm ET from the Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul, Minnesota. TNT/truTV/HBO Max will handle broadcast duties across America, while Sportsnet will carry the game for Canadian viewers.
Stars vs Wild Game 3 Predictions and Picks
My favorite Stars vs Wild Game 3 prediction is that Dallas will wrestle control of this series with a victory to go up 2-1. These two teams are incredibly evenly matched, and I wouldn’t be surprised if either emerged victorious in the Stanley Cup odds. However, I like the Stars’ experience to shine through in a hostile environment.
Our SBD formula agrees with me, tabbing the underdogs to edge Minny by a total of 3.45-3.30. They’re battle-tested, having made trips to the Western Conference Final in three straight seasons, going 5-1 in Game 3s in that span. The Wild, meanwhile, have lost in the first round eight straight times.
This truly is a tough matchup to call, with the home squad getting the love each time in this series. With it being so close, I like to side with the team that features a + before the ML odds for some extra value.
In Game 2, Big D responded from a lackluster opening salvo with a 4-2 win that featured Jake Oettinger bouncing back from a gnarly first game. Dallas has made a recent history of bad starts to series (2-9 in Game 1s), but they heat up when it matters most.
My other lean is Jason Robertson scoring an anytime goal. He’s lit the lamp in five straight and six of seven versus the Wild. Overall, he’s tickled the twine seven times in the last seven outings, and was tied for fourth in the NHL this regular season with 45 snipes. If you want to parlay Dallas ML with Robertson scoring, that pays out at a reasonable +260 clip.

SPORTSBOOK
Bet365 is the preferred book if you’re interested in wagering on this game, at least from the Wild perspective, as they have the best odds on the ML and against the spread. It’s an even 6 goals for O/U on bet365, but DraftKings has it at 5.5 if you’re confident that six or more goals will be scored, like it has in the first two games of this battle.
As for the NHL public betting splits, it looks like backing Minnesota is the play, with both 63% of the bets and money wagered on them. However, the Stars are expected to keep it close in the eyes of the public, with 84% of the wagers on Dallas puckline, though 55% of the handle is with Minny. The under 6 goals total is speaking to people more, with 64% of bets placed.
