Is Dinger Tuesday the greatest day of the week? Definitely not. But it’s because of Tuesday. Tuesday is never going to compare to the likes of Fridays, Saturdays, or even Thursdays, for that matter. It never really had a chance. The only thing Tuesdays have going for them is dingers, which is fine by us. I’m actually glad Dinger Tuesday became a thing. The dingers kind of put Tuesday on the map. Just because it’s not the best day of the week doesn’t mean it still can’t be awesome. We’re talking dingers here.

If I had to guess, I’d say there will be at least 37 home runs hit tonight. Maybe more. All we have to do is find a few guys that we know for a fact will come through for us. I’ve already found three. When they all hit, this Tuesday could immediately become the greatest day of this week. Feels easy.

Home Run Pick #1 – Sal Stewart Gets Loose

Obviously, we need a ball crusher in this thing. It’s Dinger Tuesday, so we want to get a guy that we know is swinging the bat 75+ mph. There aren’t many guys in the league that can even do that, so it’s a short list. Still, it’s important we follow all Dinger Tuesday protocols.

The first name that came to mind was Sal Stewart. To top it off, he’s going to see Kyle Freeland tonight.

Freeland hasn’t seen much action this season, but one thing remains the same: his fastball gets smashed by righties. We’re talking almost 97 mph smashed. And if there is one thing we know about Sal Stewart, it’s that he crushes four-seamers from lefties all the time. He’s in good form too. I’d say at 101 mph exit velocity over his last 15 plate appearances (against four-seamers from lefties), he’s in great form. Feels easy.

Tuesday HR Pick #2 – Jonathan Aranda Is Wild Too

Now that we have a ball crusher, picking up another one feels like a good idea. The only thing better than one ball crusher is two ball crushers. One name that comes to mind when I think “second ball crusher” is Jonathan Aranda. He’s been doing it for a few years now, and it doesn’t look like the crushing will stop any time soon.

In fact, it seems like Jonathan Aranda is actually getting better at crushing balls.

Form is everything in the game we play. We hear about guys “seeing the ball well” and stuff like that all the time. I don’t know what that really means, but I know what it looks like. It’s basically Aranda’s exit velocity log over the last week or so. Now he’s going to run into a guy like Tanner Bibee, who has given up five home runs this season, and they’ve all been to lefties. On top of that, he likes to rely on four-seamers, which is exactly what our boy Jonathan smashes. This could get ugly.

Tuesday HR Pick #3 – Michael Harris Can’t Be Stopped

Finally, a third ball crusher. At this point, the whole crushing balls thing has turned into a theme. It makes sense, though. If we’re betting on lightning strikes, we might as well take the guys who are creating said lightning strikes. That’s called logic.

One guy who fits this description perfectly is Michael Harris. What’s even better is that he’ll see Casey Mize tonight.

Casey Mize isn’t a bad pitcher. He was once in the coveted Circle of Trust, so he’s not some bs guy. The thing is, he can be hit over the fence. We’ve all seen it happen. So far this season, he’s kept the dongs at bay, but that looks kind of fluky to me. Tonight, he’ll be in the warmer weather where his hard contact won’t fly (actually, the problem is it will fly). His four-seamer got pumped a few times by lefties last season, and my guess is that will happen tonight. It’s likely to be Harris doing the pumping. Feels right.
