Game 5 presents a massive opportunity to take a stranglehold for Minnesota and San Antonio in their hotly contested series. Following a five-point victory in their last outing, the T-Wolves are heavy underdogs in the NBA odds to go up 3-2 in the series.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT on Tuesday night, broadcast live on NBC and Peacock in the United States and TSN in Canada. The winner is on the brink of facing the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. Victor Wembanyama escaped what potentially could’ve been a suspension for his elbow to Naz Reid in Game 4, which saw him be ejected from the contest. Wemby is the focus in my NBA Player Props for this massive contest.

Timberwolves vs Spurs Game 5 Picks and Predictions

  • The Pick: Spurs -10.5 (-105 at MGM)

The Timberwolves drastically struggle to maintain momentum away from home. Minnesota is an abysmal 1-6 straight up on the road following a win over their last seven such games. Those struggles bleed directly into the betting window, where they are just 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last five road games after a victory.

Conversely, the Spurs are a highly reliable investment at the Frost Bank Center, going 6-3 ATS at home over their last nine tilts. They consistently elevate their play against quality competition, boasting a 5-2 ATS record against opponents with a winning record over their last seven outings. I am confidently laying the points here, as they’re second in the NBA Championship odds at +390 compared to Minny at a whopping +7000.

  • Best Player Prop: Victor Wembanyama Over 13.5 Rebounds (+103 at DraftKings)

If the home squad is going to cover a double-digit spread and push the game over the total, Victor Wembanyama will be heavily involved. Minus Game 4, where he left early, The Alien pulled down 15 boards in each of the first three games of this series. Getting him at plus money is very appealing, given that he’s managed to do it with ease vs Minny.

In the NBA public betting splits spread market, my official prediction favors San Antonio to cover at home. However, the betting public leans slightly in the opposite direction. Minnesota is drawing 63% of the spread tickets and 59% of the money.

When it comes to the game total, there is virtually no debate at the betting window. Bettors are heavily backing a high-scoring track meet, with an overwhelming 91% of the wagers and 90% of the cash taking the Over.

The moneyline shows the public has faith in the home Spurs to emerge victorious, with 82% of tickets and 73% of the mula directed at them.

Timberwolves vs Spurs Injury Report

The NBA starting lineups show that both teams have a pretty good bill of health, minus one player each.

Player NamePositionInjuryStatus
Donte DiVincenzo (MIN)SGLeg (Achilles)Out for Season
David Jones Garcia (SAS)SFAnkleOut for Season

The most consequential injury remains Donte DiVincenzo’s season-ending Achilles tear. His absence deprives Minnesota of a dynamic two-way guard who can space the floor and create shots when the slow halfcourt offense stagnates.

For the Spurs, rookie forward David Jones Garcia has been out since January with an ankle injury.

If you are looking to place a straight moneyline wager, a $100 bet on the favored Spurs at -390 would only return a total payout of $26 extra. Conversely, taking a swing on the underdog Timberwolves with a $100 wager at +310 would yield a handsome $310 total payout, plus the original stake.
