After a wild come-from-behind Game 5 victory — their first on the road in these playoffs — the Cleveland Cavaliers can book their place in the Eastern Conference Finals with a win over the Detroit Pistons in Game 6.

The top-seeded Pistons have just one win on the road these playoffs, part of the reason they are road underdogs in the NBA odds.

Tip-off is scheduled tonight at 7pm ET from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, with Prime Video broadcasting nationally.

Cleveland finds itself as a short -168 betting favorite to win outright, courtesy of FanDuel. Taking them to cover a 3.5-point spread at DraftKings comes with -118 odds.

Picking the Pistons to win and force a Game 7? You can get +145 odds for the upset, and also get a 4-point cushion against the spread, paying at -110 odds, both from bet365.

The total sits at 209.5 points, with -110 odds for the Over, and -106 odds for the Under.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Prediction

The Cavaliers enter this contest laying a hefty 3.5 points, and for good reason: Cleveland is 7-1 against the spread at home as a favorite over their last eight games. That reflects an elite 87.5% success rate at Rocket Arena.

Conversely, the matchup history works heavily against the road underdogs.

The Pistons are 0-3-0 against the spread versus Cleveland over their last three meetings, struggling to keep pace with the modern, fast-paced offense.

Cleveland deploys a modern, spacing-oriented offense that generates a ridiculous volume of looks from the perimeter. Their mark of 37.6 three-point attempts per game heavily dwarfs Detroit’s 28.6 attempts.

That disparity in volume creates a simple math problem for the Pistons. Even though Detroit shoots a slightly higher percentage from deep, Cleveland’s sheer volume allows them to quickly manufacture massive scoring runs.

On the other side of the floor, the Pistons lean heavily on their grit to stay competitive. Detroit boasts the third-best defensive rating (104.3) and the third-highest rebound percentage (52.6%) in the postseason.

By controlling the glass, they have masked some offensive shortcomings. However, their 10th-ranked scoring output puts an immense amount of pressure on their halfcourt defense to be perfect.

Cade Cunningham has carried the scoring burden for a slow-paced Detroit squad, but he needs a transcendent performance just to match Cleveland’s perimeter-heavy math. With no help to pick up the scoring slack, it’s tough for Detroit to score enough to stay in this one.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Expert Picks

Total Pick: Over 209.5 points (-112 at DraftKings): The Over has hit in seven of Cleveland’s last eight games at home against opponents with a winning record. Given their offensive efficiency and Detroit’s desperate need to push the pace to extend their season, backing a higher-scoring affair is the logical play.

Best Prop Pick: Mitchell Over 26.5 points (-118 at DraftKings): Mitchell came alive in the clutch in Game 5, scoring seven of his 21 points in OT, setting the table for a closeout performance at home, and a reasonable scoring line of 26.5. He averaged 28.7 points per game at home in the regular season, and has upped that to 30.1 points per game in six home playoff dates, including four games of 30+ points.

Pistons vs Cavaliers Injury Report

Cleveland is all hands on deck for Game 6, but the Pistons are limited on the perimeter. Caris LeVert (heel) wound up on the injury report after Game 5, and he joins Kevin Huerter (thigh), who was limited to just three minutes in Game 5.

Duncan Robinson (back) missed the last game altogether, pushing reserve Daniss Jenkins into his first career playoff start.

Huerter and Robinson are among the top 3-point shooters on a Detroit team desperate for shooting, while LeVert is one of the few other Pistons not named Cade Cunningham that can create his own offense and also set up others.

All three are questionable for Game 6.
