The Philadelphia Phillies (35-30) travel north to face the Toronto Blue Jays (32-34) to open a three-game interleague series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM ET / 4:07 PM PT Monday night from the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Phillies find themselves are considerable favorites in the MLB odds, with their incredible ace Cristopher Sanchez toeing the rubber.

Keeping reading for my preview for tonight’s ball game, along with my predictions and favorite MLB player props bet to wager on.

Phillies vs Blue Jays Predictions & Best Bets

  • The Pick: Phillies Moneyline (-170 at bet365)
  • Best Player Prop: Cristopher Sanchez Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+108 at DraftKings)

Despite Philadelphia’s sluggish .229 team batting average, their starting pitching advantage is too significant to ignore. Cristopher Sanchez boasts a 1.46 ERA and a 1.089 WHIP and just had a ridiculous run of 50 and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball snapped in his latest start. Facing Patrick Corbin, who holds a 3.98 ERA, the road squad possesses a massive edge on the mound. I expect them to control the tempo from the first inning.

Sanchez averages 6.64 innings per start, consistently neutralizing opposing lineups. I expect runs to be at a premium for Toronto. The home team holds a slight offensive edge with a .700 OPS, but the Phillies ace is on such a heater that I can’t ignore it, particularly with Toronto 20th in average with runners in scoring position.

As for the MLB player props, I’m sticking with the Phils incredible starter Sanchez to throw seven or more strikeouts. That’s something he’s done in ten of 13 starts on the campaign, with twice him just missing the mark with six.

He’s up against a Toronto time that’s struck out the second fewest of any MLB team, which is why it’s paying plus money. However, I’ll take him at a prop at plus money any day of the week.

ERA1.463.98

The MLB probable pitchers show that Cristopher Sanchez brings elite swing-and-miss ability paired with a 6.06 K/BB ratio. His low ERA is fully supported by an outstanding 1.79 FIP. Over his last ten starts, opponents are hitting just .223 against him.

Patrick Corbin is surviving rather than dominating. His 4.28 FIP suggests he has benefited from good fortune. Furthermore, his lack of strikeout stuff (6.13 K/9) limits his margin for error. Over his last ten appearances, Corbin averages just 5.03 innings per start.
