I’m going with a low scoring affair for this duel, given that Nick Martinez has been outstanding, minus one hiccup two starts ago (six ER in four IP vs DET). Otherwise, he’s allowed two or fewer runs in eleven of 13 starts on the campaign. His counterpart Eric Lauer really struggled with Toronto, but he’s been a revelation since joining LAD, with a 2.76 ERA and 0.86 WHIP.

Additionally, in the last four meetings between these two clubs, at most five total runs have been accumulated. In nine of eleven Rays games, the under 9.5 runs has been the play.

Starting Pitchers

For the MLB player props, I’m bullish on Shohei Ohtani scoring at least one run. His elite .427 on-base percentage makes him a constant threat to cross the plate in front of a potent middle of the order. I expect him to score against a contact-heavy pitcher in Martinez (four or fewer strikeouts in eleven of 13 starts this season). Ohtani has scored a run in nine of eleven games in June, totaling 13 in that span.
