College football is back, and GameDay is opening season 40 on the LSU Quad. It’s the show’s 500th road trip and its 15th visit to Baton Rouge.

ESPN picked its spot well. Lane Kiffin makes his LSU debut that night against Clemson, and he’ll join the desk live before kickoff.

We’ve got the full GameDay rundown below: location, start time, channel, and guest picker. We’ll also track the crew’s picks live Saturday morning and update this page as each one drops.

Rece Davis runs the desk with Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban, plus reporting from Pete Thamel. “Countdown to College GameDay” airs at 8:30 AM ET, and the full show streams on the ESPN App.

Wilson is a Louisiana native, so expect a loud crowd when the headgear comes out. That segment closes the show and it’s the one bettors care about.

How to Bet or Tail the GameDay Picks

One catch: the crew picks games straight up, not against the spread. The moneyline is your cleanest tail.

Once you have a side, compare that price across books and prediction market apps. Markets work differently than a sportsbook. You’re trading against other users, so the price moves with demand instead of a set hold. That often means a better number on the side you wanted anyway.

Keep three open Saturday morning: Polymarket, Kalshi, and Novig. All three post college football markets and all three take a different cut.

Here’s the playbook for GameDay morning:

  • Wait for the segment. Picks land at the end of the show, right before noon ET.
  • Shop the moneyline. Underdog picks from the crew move fast once they air.
  • Check a market price. Compare the book’s odds to what a prediction market pays.
  • Bet the number, not the name. A bad price on a good team is still a bad bet.

Week 1 Picks and Predictions

Five games are worth a bet before the crew says a word. Start with the one GameDay came for.

Clemson at LSU

Line: LSU -10.5 | Total: 50.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC

Kiffin’s first night in Death Valley comes against Dabo Swinney. These two met last season, with LSU grinding out a 17-10 win.

LSU comes in 11th and Clemson sits 23rd in a sold-out Tiger Stadium. Clemson’s quarterback job stayed unsettled through fall camp, with Christopher Vizzina reportedly closing in on the start.

Two new-look offenses, a first-time starter at Clemson, and Kiffin still installing his system point one way. Expect another grind.

  • Our Pick: Under 50.5

Boise State at Oregon

Line: Oregon -24.5 | Total: 51.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on CBS

The Broncos lead this series 3-1 and lost by three in Eugene back in 2024.

The counter is ugly for Boise. Oregon is 34-0 against unranked teams under Dan Lanning and has won 37 straight nonconference home games. Dante Moore threw 30 touchdowns at a 71.8% clip last year.

Still, Maddux Madsen is 20-6 as a Boise starter with 6,500-plus career passing yards. Some books have this as high as 25, and the Broncos are live to keep it respectable.

  • Our Pick: Boise State +24.5

Auburn vs. Baylor

Line: Auburn -7.5 | Total: 58.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ABC

Alex Golesh opens his Auburn tenure in Atlanta, a rematch of last year’s 38-24 Auburn win in Waco.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium plays like a home game for the Tigers, and the ESPN Matchup Predictor gives them a near-73% win probability. Baylor’s Dave Aranda is coaching for his job.

  • Our Pick: Auburn -7.5

Ole Miss vs. Louisville

Line: Ole Miss -6.5 | Total: 55.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC

Save room for Sunday night. This is the only Week 1 game with two ranked teams, and Pete Golding takes over full time for Ole Miss after going 2-1 in last year’s Playoff.

Louisville breaks in Lincoln Kienholz at quarterback. Isaac Brown led the ACC at 8.8 yards per carry last year, and the Cards scored on 90% of their red zone trips, just ahead of Ole Miss at 86%.

  • Our Pick: Louisville +7

Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin

Line: Notre Dame -20.5 | Total: 47.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on NBC

Lambeau Field is a neutral site on paper only. It sits two hours from Wisconsin’s campus, so the Badgers get a road-trip edge without the travel.

They’ll need it. Wisconsin averaged 12.8 points per game last season, the fewest by a Big Ten team this century, and the Badgers are 1-10 in neutral-site games against AP Top 10 teams since 2006.

That lone win? It came at Lambeau, 16-14 over No. 5 LSU in 2016. Wisconsin is also 23-3 in openers since 2000, and new quarterback Colton Joseph averaged 9.05 yards per attempt at Old Dominion. Still, laying 20.5 with an offense this shaky is a lot to ask.

  • Our Pick: Under 47.5

We’ll fill in the table above Saturday morning and see how the desk lines up with our card.
