The NFL handed out the first NFL Protector of the Year award in the 2025-26 NFL season. Upon sportsbooks opening odds for the market that season, I began to track them. Sadly, sportsbooks closed down the odds once the season kicked off. But I have some snapshots of the odds during that season. See previous winners of the award below and how the odds looked during each season.

Only DraftKings and bet365 were offering NFL Protector of the Year odds prior to kickoff, but neither reopened the futures market after the season kicked off. Caesars Sportsbook was the only betting app to reopen these odds after Week 2, but even they have closed their market ahead of Week 3 TNF.

While Penei Sewell was seen as the favorite to win the award in the preseason, it was Joe Thuney who took home the inaugural award.
