Week 2 of the 2026 college football season has arrived, with a loaded menu of betting opportunities. As non-conference schedules heat up with massive, high-stakes matchups, the betting markets are already showing fascinating divides between casual bettors and professional syndicates.

Tracking betting splits is a useful way to find an edge at the sportsbook. By comparing the percentage of betting tickets and the percentage of total money or “handle” wagered, I can get a sense of which sides the big-money players are backing. When a team is drawing a low percentage of total bets but a high percentage of the total cash, it usually suggests potential sharp action.

This week’s slate features some colossal showdowns, headlined by the Ohio State Buckeyes traveling to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns, and the Oklahoma Sooners clashing with the Michigan Wolverines at the Big House. Let’s dive into the college football public betting report for Week 2, including the sharp vs public splits.

Most-Bet College Football Teams Against the Spread in Week 2

I always expect the public to back prominent favorites, and this week’s betting card certainly confirms that trend. Unsurprisingly, the most popular spread bet on the slate according to the college football public betting splits is the Alabama Crimson Tide. They’re currently drawing a massive 83.25% of the spread tickets as 10.5-point road favorites against the Kentucky Wildcats. The public expects Alabama to blow the doors off Kentucky, and they aren’t shy about laying the juice.

Just behind Alabama are the Tennessee Volunteers, commanding 80.42% of the tickets as 12.5-point favorites over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Casual bettors are also eagerly laying the points with the Missouri Tigers, who are taking in 75.75% of the bets as 5.5-point favorites over Kansas. Other heavily backed teams eating up public tickets include the Boston College Eagles (73.18% of tickets at -3 vs Rutgers) and the Oklahoma Sooners (72.54% of tickets at -5.5 vs Michigan).

Most-Bet College Football Over/Unders in Week 2

When it comes to game totals, the betting public is showing extreme polarization. Several matchups feature completely one-sided ticket counts, with bettors expecting either shootouts or offenses that have entirely fallen off a cliff.

Bettors are pounding the Under in the Arkansas vs Utah matchup, with an overwhelming 97.12% of the total tickets banking on the game falling short of 54.5 points. Similar lopsided action on the Under can be found in the Texas Tech vs Oregon State game (94.16% on the Under at 53.5) and the Rutgers vs Boston College clash (94.31% on the Under at 54.5).

On the flip side, public bettors are aggressively targeting the Over in the Arizona vs BYU game, where 93.56% of tickets predict an offensive outburst above the 47.5-point total. The Duke vs Illinois matchup is also seeing heavy action on the Over, drawing 83.07% of the tickets at 51.5. College Football Sharp vs Public Splits in Week 2

Identifying gaps between ticket percentage and money percentage is my primary method for spotting where the big money is flowing. While a money-versus-ticket difference alone isn’t absolute proof of professional action, it strongly indicates potential sharp involvement.

In the spread market, the Arkansas Razorbacks are my top sharp target of the week. Despite drawing just 38.83% of the spread tickets as 12-point underdogs to Utah, Arkansas is commanding a whopping 73.68% of the total betting handle. That massive +34.85% gap signals major syndicate backing.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are seeing a similar indicator; they have just 29.85% of the tickets but 49.60% of the money (+19.75% discrepancy) as 14.5-point underdogs to Texas A&M.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Sooners, a National Championship odds contender, represent a rare public-sharp consensus, taking 72.54% of the tickets but an even higher 91.36% of the money (+18.82% gap) ATS against Michigan.

In the totals market, the data suggests professional bettors are targeting high-scoring affairs contrary to public intuition. The Over (54.5) in the Memphis vs Boise State game has just 40.44% of the tickets but represents 83.48% of the total cash, a colossal +43.04% discrepancy. Similarly, the Over (55.5) in the Tennessee vs Georgia Tech game accounts for just 30.51% of tickets but 62.14% of the handle (+31.63% gap), indicating larger, sharper bets are banking on the scoreboard lighting up.

Notable Week 2 College Football Line Movement

The sharp money discrepancies I noted above perfectly contextualize some of the most dramatic line movements we’ve seen on the Week 2 card.

The Oklahoma vs Michigan spread has experienced a staggering swing. Michigan opened as a 1.5-point home favorite, but with Oklahoma attracting over 91% of the spread money, oddsmakers have been forced to flip the script entirely. The Sooners now sit as 5.5-point road favorites. If you are backing Oklahoma, laying the -5.5 before it crosses the key number of -7 is the actionable, mathematically sound play here. Lock in that line now with the BetMGM promo code.

I can also see sharp respect for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights shaping the market. Boston College opened as a 7.5-point home favorite, but a +16.79% money discrepancy favoring Rutgers (26.82% tickets vs 43.61% money) has driven the current spread all the way down to a field goal (Boston College -3).

Conversely, the Oregon Ducks are seeing money pour in to push their line higher. The Ducks opened as 18.5-point favorites over Oklahoma State. Backed by 78.54% of the betting handle, that line has stretched out to Oregon -22.5, proving that sometimes the big money is perfectly fine laying heavy points.
