  • The early spread makes the Tigers home favorites in this Week 4 matchup

The 23rd-ranked Texas A&M Aggies visit the 10th-ranked LSU Tigers in a Week 4 SEC matchup. Both teams enter at 2-1 after losing on September 19, with Texas A&M falling 31-21 at home to Kentucky and LSU losing 32-24 at Ole Miss.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. Both teams are looking for their first conference win after dropping their SEC openers.

My Texas A&M vs LSU prediction looks at pass protection, third-down execution and the early betting line. Below, I break down the matchup before explaining my best bet.

Texas A&M vs LSU Prediction

  • Score Prediction: LSU 27, Texas A&M 13

I have LSU winning 27-13 because the Tigers have shown the more complete offensive profile through three games. LSU averages 39.3 points and 500.7 total yards per game, while Texas A&M averages 39.0 points and 394.3 yards per game.

The biggest difference is down-to-down efficiency. LSU has converted 56.0% of its third downs, compared with 44.2% for Texas A&M, which should help the Tigers sustain possessions and keep their defense rested.

LSU has also recorded 13 sacks through three games, compared with four for Texas A&M. Protecting Marcel Reed is a priority for the Aggies, particularly on passing downs when LSU can attack the pocket.

Texas A&M’s +1 turnover differential is better than LSU’s -1 mark, so the visitors have a clear path if they win that category again. Even so, I expect LSU’s advantage in yardage, third-down conversion and pass-rush production to outweigh the turnover difference.

Texas A&M vs LSU Early Spread

The consensus college football odds list LSU as a 9.5-point home favorite. The moneyline makes LSU the clear favorite, while the total is set in the low 50s.

MarketConsensus odds
SpreadLSU -9.5 (-116) / Texas A&M +9.5 (-105)
MoneylineLSU -357 / Texas A&M +284
TotalOver 52.5 (-111) / Under 52.5 (-108)

The spread reflects LSU’s home-field advantage and stronger early statistical base. However, Texas A&M has enough defensive ability and turnover potential to keep the game within range if the Aggies avoid negative plays and finish drives.

The moneyline price offers limited value on LSU, while the underdog requires a much stronger overall performance than Texas A&M showed in its September 19 loss. I prefer evaluating the total rather than treating the moneyline as an attractive standalone wager.

Texas A&M vs LSU Best Bet

  • Best Bet: Under 52.5 (-108)

I am backing the Under 52.5 at -108. LSU’s offense has produced 39.3 points per game, but this matchup is more likely to become a possession-based contest than a free-flowing shootout, particularly if the Tigers’ defense creates sacks and forces Texas A&M into difficult down-and-distance situations.

The Aggies average 394.3 total yards through three games and convert 44.2% of third downs. That is a respectable offensive foundation, but it does not guarantee the sustained drives needed to push this total beyond 52.5 against an LSU defense that has already collected 13 sacks.

LSU’s 56.0% third-down rate can extend drives, yet it can also reduce the number of possessions available to both teams if the Tigers control the tempo. My projected final score of LSU 27, Texas A&M 13 stays comfortably below the number, making the Under my preferred position.

These are consensus prices for the September 26 matchup. If you’re comparing ways to back the Aggies from home, check Texas prediction markets for available platforms and how their contracts work.
