Week 4 hands us a 12-game main slate starting at noon ET, and the pricing left me some room to work with. Whether you play DraftKings or shop around the other DFS apps, this is the board I’m building on.

The plan here is pretty simple. Pair a quarterback with one of his receivers, pay up for a top wideout and use an affordable second quarterback to stay under the cap.

Here’s the full lineup, followed by why I’m taking each of these DraftKings picks for Saturday.

DraftKings CFB DFS Week 4 Lineup

That’s the cap to the dollar, with nothing left over. I checked these salaries on September 24, so confirm pricing and availability before lock if you’re entering this on DraftKings. The superflex goes to a second quarterback rather than a third running back.

CFB DFS Picks: Malik Washington ($7,200)

Malik Washington went 30-of-43 for 359 yards and three touchdowns in Maryland’s 35-26 loss to Virginia Tech. The week before that, he completed 34 of 41 throws for 347 yards against UConn.

Back-to-back 340-yard games at $7,200 is the kind of pricing I want to attack. The UCLA game also carries one of the higher totals on the slate per the college football odds, which gives me another reason to like his passing opportunities.

CFB DFS Picks: Jeremy Payne ($6,300)

Jeremy Payne carried it 24 times for 86 yards and a three-yard touchdown in TCU’s 31-7 win over Arkansas State. The efficiency was nothing special. The workload was.

I’m buying the touches, not a big yardage night. TCU’s quarterback threw for 337 yards and three scores in that same game, so I’m not pretending every Frogs touchdown runs through the backfield.

CFB DFS Picks: Dawson Pendergrass ($6,400)

Dawson Pendergrass rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown in Baylor’s 36-19 win over Louisiana Tech. Fair warning: this is a committee. One teammate out-rushed him with 55 yards, and a third back took 10 carries for 42.

What I’m paying for is the scoring role in a game with a high total and the Bears favored by more than a touchdown. That’s a decent setup for a back who found the end zone last time out.

CFB DFS Picks: Jeremiah Smith ($8,900)

Jeremiah Smith is the most expensive player in the build, and the production backs it up. He has 21 catches for 400 yards and three touchdowns through Ohio State’s first three games.

The risk is obvious. OSU is a huge favorite against Illinois, and a runaway score could shorten his afternoon. I’m accepting that risk for a receiver averaging seven catches per game.

CFB DFS Picks: Gavin Freeman ($5,500)

Gavin Freeman had a quiet one against Louisiana Tech, hauling in seven passes for 47 yards. Zoom out and he’s at 29 receptions for 305 yards through three games, including a 12-catch, 154-yard touchdown performance versus Auburn.

Using him alongside Pendergrass gives me two ways to benefit if Baylor scores regularly. Nate Bennett has taken the last two games under center for the Bears, so I’ll check the quarterback situation again before lock.

CFB DFS Picks: Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding ($5,300)

Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding is the receiver I’m pairing with Washington. He caught eight balls for 130 yards and a score against UConn, then chipped in a 43-yard grab versus Virginia Tech.

Chris Durr is the volume receiver in this offense, with 12 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns last week. Skipping him to save $1,800 is a tradeoff, and I’m making it so Smith fits.

CFB DFS Picks: Tony Diaz ($5,500)

Tony Diaz has 17 receptions on 27 targets for 201 yards and a touchdown through three games. That’s steady work for a flex player at this number.

The game environment is the catch. Iowa at Michigan projects as the lowest-scoring spot on the main slate, which caps his upside. The recent targets interest me at $5,500, even with fewer scoring chances expected.

CFB DFS Picks: Ryan Browne ($4,900)

Ryan Browne leads Purdue into the 2 pm ET kickoff against Notre Dame. At $4,900, he’s the reason everything above him fits.

This is the concession in the lineup, and I’ll own it. The Irish are a big favorite, and I’m not counting on late-game throwing to bail out the spot. What I want is a starting quarterback in a game with a high total at a low salary.
