The college football AI picks came back even in both directions in Week 5. The model split its spread picks 5-5 and its totals 5-5, which left last week’s board at 10-10 with no pushes.
That moves the season to 30-21 ATS and 27-24 on totals, or 57-45 overall. Week 6 brings 10 more games, with two of them on Friday night and the rest Saturday.
Here is the full slate with the college football odds each prediction was recorded against, followed by four matchups worth a closer look.
College Football AI Picks for Week 6
The totals split down the middle at five overs and five unders. Seven of the 10 sides back a favorite, and four of those favorites are laying 3.5 points or fewer.
The range on the totals is wide. Texas and Oklahoma carry the lowest number on the board at 39.5, while South Carolina at Florida sits all the way up at 61.5.

Georgia at Alabama Prediction & AI Picks
- Spread pick: Alabama -1.5
- Total pick: Over 55.5
Georgia vs Alabama is the only Top 10 game on the Week 6 slate. No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama are both 5-0, and a 1.5-point spread says the market sees almost nothing separating them.
Alabama is coming off the louder result of the two. The Crimson Tide won 56-23 at then-No. 16 Mississippi State, a Bulldogs team that had been unbeaten and climbing the poll until that night.
Keelon Russell accounted for four touchdowns in that game, throwing for 285 yards and three scores while adding another on the ground. Alabama also turned four Mississippi State turnovers into 21 points.
Georgia had the quieter Saturday, handling Vanderbilt 38-14. The Bulldogs are unbeaten and ranked ahead of Alabama, which is part of why this number sits where it does.
The model takes the home team and the over in this Georgia vs Alabama matchup. A 55.5 total is a reasonable ask when one side just hung 56 on a ranked opponent, though Bryant-Denny in a 7:30 window on ABC is not a place where either defense is likely to roll over.
Texas vs Oklahoma Prediction & AI Picks
- Spread pick: Texas -8.5
- Total pick: Under 39.5
The Red River game runs at the Cotton Bowl as always, so neither team gets a true home field. No. 1 Texas comes in 4-0 and Oklahoma is 2-2 and unranked, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
The 39.5 total is the number that stands out. The next-lowest total in this model slate is Iowa-Washington at 41.5, and totals that low usually mean the market expects a grind from the opening series.
Texas has already played in one of those. The Longhorns won 20-17 at Tennessee in Week 4, a game that produced 37 combined points.
The model lays the points in this Texas vs Oklahoma spot and pairs it with the under. Laying more than a touchdown on a neutral field is the aggressive half of that pairing, and the under leaves less room for either offense to waste possessions.
Iowa State at BYU Prediction & AI Picks
- Spread pick: Iowa State +10.5
- Total pick: Over 46.5
BYU is 4-0 and up to No. 8 after a 17-10 win at TCU that was nothing like a shootout. The Cougars threw for 62 yards, the fewest TCU’s defense had allowed since October 2017, and had only 101 yards at halftime.
Bear Bachmeier handled the scoring himself. He ran for both BYU touchdowns, including a 21-yard burst with 2:06 left that finally put the game away.
Iowa State is 3-2 and has been two completely different teams. The Cyclones scored 38, 55 and 45 in their three wins, then managed 13 and 17 in losses to Iowa and Utah.
Last week was the high end of that range. Iowa State put up 17 fourth-quarter points to beat West Virginia 45-42 in a game that finished with 87 combined points.
That split is the whole Iowa State vs BYU question. The model takes the 10.5 points and the over 46.5, which needs the version of the Cyclones that showed up against West Virginia rather than the one that scored 13 against Iowa. Worth monitoring too is BYU running back LJ Martin, who left the TCU game and has not had a status confirmed for Friday.
USC at Penn State Prediction & AI Picks
- Spread pick: Penn State -1.5
- Total pick: Over 54.5
Penn State is 3-2 and 0-2 in Big Ten play after one of the uglier results of Week 5. Northwestern ran for 413 yards in a 34-13 win over the Nittany Lions.
Rocco Becht had a rough night in that one, finishing 26-of-41 for 243 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. The Nittany Lions are now home for a ranked opponent with their conference record already in trouble.
No. 19 USC arrives at 5-1 after beating Washington 25-21. The Trojans have been the steadier team through six games, which makes the short number here interesting.
The model still backs Penn State at home, laying 1.5. That is the shortest spread on the board alongside Alabama, so the USC vs Penn State side is close to a straight call on who wins.
The USC vs Penn State total also points to Penn State’s defensive problems. A defense that just gave up 413 rushing yards is facing a USC team that has scored its way to a 5-1 record, though clearing 54.5 still requires sustained scoring from both sides.
College Football AI Picks: Week 5 Recap & Results
The Week 5 college football AI picks finished 5-5 against the spread and 5-5 on totals, for a combined 10-10 record with no pushes. Alabama and Tennessee won both predictions, while Virginia Tech and Penn State lost both.
All five ATS losses came from teams that lost outright, with Penn State and Michigan both getting beaten as favorites. Iowa +14.5 missed by 2.5 points, with Ohio State winning 31-14 and cashing the under in the same game.
