  • I’ve got three early CFB ATS picks built on yards-per-play and turnover margin gaps
  • Undefeated Notre Dame carries a plus-13 turnover differential into their BYU matchup
  • Read below for my early ATS picks for Week 7 college football, including the three best bets against the spread

Week 7 of the 2026 college football season delivers a heavy slate, and I am working the spreads rather than the totals for my betting card. The matchups I like all share the same shape: one side holds a real edge in yards per play, turnover margin, or both.

Two of my three picks involve favorites laying double digits in the college football odds. The third is a home side most bettors will skip right past.

I am pricing all three through Kalshi contracts, where the number you pay is the implied probability. Here are my early ATS picks for Week 7 college football, including the three best bets against the spread.

Early CFB ATS Pick #1: Notre Dame at BYU

Notre Dame wins by over 10.5 points
48%

I am laying the points with National Championship odds contender Notre Dame in the best matchup on the board. The Irish are 6-0 and scoring 44 points per game while allowing just 11, a 33-point nightly margin that no other team in this article approaches.

The efficiency numbers back it up on both ends. Notre Dame generates 6.87 yards per play and surrenders only 4.08, so they are winning the per-snap battle by nearly three yards.

BYU is a legitimate 5-0 with a strong profile of its own at 34.6 points scored and 13.4 allowed. The gap is in ball security, where Notre Dame’s plus-13 turnover differential dwarfs BYU’s plus-4.

That is the edge I am buying at 48¢. Extra possessions are how a road favorite turns a close game into a two-score win, and Notre Dame has consistently won that battle this season.

Early CFB ATS Pick #2: Mississippi State at LSU

LSU wins by over 13.5 points

The Mississippi State at LSU matchup gives me a clear defensive efficiency advantage. LSU is averaging 42 points per game against 18.5 allowed, and that scoring profile holds up even at 4-2.

Mississippi State arrives at 4-1 with a capable offense of its own, putting up 39 points per game. The problem is on the other side of the ball, where the Bulldogs are allowing 28 points and 5.49 yards per play.

LSU generates 6.48 yards per play against that. The Tigers also give up only 4.28 per snap, more than a full yard better than what Mississippi State allows, which is the entire argument for laying this number.

The caveat is turnovers. LSU sits at minus-2 on the season and Mississippi State at minus-3, so neither side has been clean, and a short field or two could keep this closer than the efficiency gap suggests.

Early CFB ATS Pick #3: Arkansas at Vanderbilt

  • Vanderbilt -6.5 (51¢ on Kalshi)

Vanderbilt wins by over 6.5 points
51%

The Arkansas at Vanderbilt spread is less about backing a good team than fading a struggling one. Arkansas is 2-4, managing only 19.3 points per game while conceding 27.7.

Their offense is the issue. The Razorbacks generate just 4.8 yards per play, the lowest figure of any team in this article, and allow 5.94, which is the widest negative gap on the board.

Vanderbilt is nothing special at 3-3, scoring 24 and allowing 29.5. But they move the ball better at 5.36 yards per play, and at home against this offense, that difference should be enough.

This is the thinnest of my three plays and I am treating it that way. Vanderbilt’s minus-4 turnover differential is the worst in the group, so the margin for error laying nearly a touchdown is real.
