The undefeated, No. 2 ranked BYU Cougars (6-0) hit the road to face the UCF Knights (3-3) in a pivotal Big 12 clash. BYU is fresh off a thrilling 28-24 victory over Notre Dame, while UCF returns home off a bye week following a 42-28 defeat to Oklahoma State.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 24 at the Acrisure Bounce House in Orlando, with national television coverage on FOX. The Cougars bring 12 straight road wins against unranked opponents dating back to 2024 into this contest.

Below, I break down my BYU vs UCF prediction, the current spread and my best bets. The injury picture and both teams’ rushing matchups shape how I am approaching this game across the top prediction market apps.

My BYU vs UCF prediction points toward a closer battle than the moneyline suggests, making the home underdog an appealing target. Polymarket prices BYU at 73¢ to win outright, but laying that price is steep when you dig into the matchup dynamics.

BYU relies heavily on a ground-and-pound approach, but its backfield depth is compromised. Lead running back LJ Martin is out with an ankle injury, and while Sione Moa is cleared to return, his workload remains uncertain.

That forces the offense to lean even more on quarterback Bear Bachmeier. He boasts an 18-2 record in career starts and averages 5.8 yards per carry with six rushing touchdowns, but a UCF defense that has generated 11 takeaways will test his decision-making ability.

Without Martin to balance the attack, Bachmeier will need to find receiver Legend Glasker, who ranks third among freshmen nationally with 444 receiving yards. The Knights must disrupt that rhythm to get off the field.

BYU holds the edge in scoring, defense and rushing, while UCF owns the takeaway advantage. The defining mismatch is BYU’s defensive structure against the Knights’ rushing attack.

UCF relies heavily on running back Duke Watson, who has amassed 483 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 70 carries. However, he is running directly into a BYU front that simply refuses to give up explosive ground plays.

BYU is a clear outright favorite at 73¢, but the spread is much closer, with UCF +7.5 at 53¢ and BYU -7.5 at 48¢. The total is split down the middle, with both sides of 43.5 trading at 51¢.

A 53¢ price works out to roughly a 53% break-even chance before fees, and each winning contract pays $1.

Under 43.5

My second BYU vs UCF best bet is the Under because scoring on this Cougars defense is a grueling task. The Cougars are allowing just 12.3 points per game in conference play, and their 44 runs of five or more yards allowed rank third fewest in the FBS. They also have not surrendered a single run of 30 or more yards.

On the other side, UCF quarterback Keyone Jenkins is making his fifth straight start, with Alonza Barnett III not starting due to a hamstring issue. Jenkins has been exceptionally accurate in conference play, boasting a 74.2% completion rate.

The Knights are practically automatic in the red zone, converting on 21 of 22 attempts this season with 17 touchdowns and four field goals. The challenge is getting there against a defense this stingy.

With Martin sidelined and BYU leaning on Bachmeier, I expect a methodical, field position battle rather than an air raid shootout. That makes the Under 43.5 my second best bet in this matchup.
