Following Austin Smotherman’s second consecutive first victory at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, the PGA Tour heads to Mexico for the VidantaWorld Mexico Open. This event has moved around in the calendar in its four year’s hosting a tournament, from April, to February, and now to October.

It’s being contested at Vidanta Vallarta Golf Course, and going low is imperative to success, with each of the four champions shooting at least -17 en route to victory. Last season, Brian Campbell got an extremely lucky break off his tee shot in a playoff to eventually defeat Aldrich Potgieter. Wyndham Clark, who won this year’s U.S. Open, headlines the field teeing it up this week, followed by Tom Kim.

I’m starting my card this week with Doug Ghim, who quietly has been playing some stellar golf in the last few months. He’s racked up five straight top-20s, and seven of nine. His best result in that span was a runner-up in Utah in his second most recent start.

Ghim still hasn’t gotten over the finish line to claim his first triumph on the main circuit, but keeps putting himself into positions to lift a trophy. He also was T-8th at this championship in 2024. His Kalshi odds equate to +2800 in American odds, which is longer than the top-eight golfers on the board, so you’re getting some good value on him as well.

VidantaWorld Mexico Open 2026 Picks & Value Bets

  • Neal Shipley +3700 at DraftKings: Neal Shipley had back-to-back fantastic tournaments at the Biltmore Championship and Back of Utah Championship. He very nearly won Biltmore, where he wound up T-3rd, after holding the 54 hole lead. He followed that up with a T-10th in Utah, and had a solid showing in Bermuda too. While his pricetag isn’t super sexy, it’s still decent enough at +3700.
  • Tony Finau +7200 at Kalshi: If Tony Finau were playing stronger golf, he’d easily be in the top-five choices to win. His game has hit a down turn, but his mastery of this event is something to behold. Finau was second in 2022 (one stroke behind), won the tournament in 2023, then was T-13th in 2024 (he didn’t play in 2025). Based on that alone, I’m interested in backing him this week big time.
  • Aldrich Potgieter +7800 at DraftKings: Aldrich Potgieter blows hot and cold, and currently he’s struggling to maintain the form he had at the start of 2026. However, it’s hard to ignore him being runner-up in a playoff here just a year ago, especially at this price. If he were among the favorites coming in, then I wouldn’t love sprinkling money on him, but this number is just too good to ignore.
  • Ben Silverman +14000 at DraftKings: Ben Silverman is coming off a tie for third at the Bermuda Championship, and he also posted a T-3rd at the ISCO Championship in July. He’s had moderate success at this track, with a top-15 finish in 2024. He’ll be intriguing to monitor in the top 5/10/20 markets.
