Wednesday’s NHL card is short, but it doesn’t lack star power. The Edmonton Oilers (8-2-2) host the Calgary Flames (5-6), while the Colorado Avalanche (6-5-1) welcome the New Jersey Devils (8-4).

That’s where I’m hunting for NHL player props tonight. Two of my three bets come out of the Battle of Alberta, where Edmonton’s top scorers have stacked up points and goals through the first 12 games of the season.

I’ve got one points play, one shots play and one anytime goalscorer pick, all priced at theScore Bet. Keep reading for my Wednesday NHL player props, anytime goalscorer picks and best bets, below.

Wednesday NHL Player Props

PickOddsImplied Odds
Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points-14559.2%
Nathan MacKinnon Over 3.5 Shots-12555.6%
Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal-11553.5%

All three of my Wednesday NHL player props are short favorites at theScore Bet. Hart Trophy odds favorite Connor McDavid’s points over carries a 59.2% implied chance, Nathan MacKinnon’s shots over sits around 55.6%, and Leon Draisaitl’s anytime goalscorer price works out to about a 53.5% probability.

Wednesday’s Best NHL Player Prop Bets

NHL Prop Pick #1: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points

I’m starting my Wednesday NHL player props with McDavid against Calgary. He has 34 points through 12 games, good for 2.83 per night, and he’s posted two or more points in eight of his last 10 outings.

The last week has been even louder. McDavid has gone for 1, 2, 5, 3 and 5 points over his last five games, clearing this line in four of them. That includes a pair of five-point nights.

A big chunk of that output comes on the man advantage. McDavid has 12 power-play assists and averages 3:42 of power-play time per game. With a 5-6 Flames team coming to Edmonton, I’m happy to lay -145 on two points. New users can sign up with theScore Bet promo code and score a bonus to use on tonight’s game.

NHL Prop Pick #2: Nathan MacKinnon Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

  • Nathan MacKinnon Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-125 at theScore Bet)

My second play backs MacKinnon’s shot volume against the Devils. He has 50 shots on goal through 12 games, an average of 4.17 per night, which sits comfortably above this 3.5 line.

He’s reached four or more shots in six of his 12 games, and three of his last five. His recent log reads 2, 4, 5, 1 and 9 shots, so the ceiling is there when the Avs lean on him.

MacKinnon also logs 4:06 of power-play time per game, which gives him extra looks beyond even strength. Colorado sits at 6-5-1 and is a Stanley Cup odds contender facing an 8-4 New Jersey side, and I’m taking the over at -125.

Wednesday’s NHL Anytime Goalscorer Picks

NHL Prop Pick #3: Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal

I’m wrapping up my Wednesday NHL player props and anytime goalscorer picks with Draisaitl. He has 12 goals in 12 games, one per contest, and he’s lit the lamp seven times over his last five.

His game-by-game run of 0, 2, 2, 2 and 1 goals means he’s scored in four of those five. He’s also put 46 shots on goal this season, so he’s getting his chances.

Six of his 12 goals have come on the power play, where he averages 3:48 per game. His -115 price translates to about a 53.5% chance, and I’ll back him to score against Calgary at that number.
