  • The Oilers host the Flames in the Battle of Alberta on Wednesday night at Rogers Place
  • Calgary brings a three-game win streak north, while Edmonton is coming off a shootout loss to Detroit
  • Keep reading for my Flames vs Oilers prediction, odds breakdown and Battle of Alberta picks

The Battle of Alberta is back on Wednesday as the Calgary Flames (5-6) visit the Edmonton Oilers (8-2-2). Puck drop is set for 8:30pm ET / 6:30pm MT from Rogers Place, with Sportsnet carrying the broadcast.

Both clubs last played Monday, so neither side has a rest edge. Calgary beat Toronto 5-2 for its third straight win, while Edmonton dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to Detroit.

The Oilers are sizeable home favourites in the latest NHL Odds, but the price on this one caught my eye. My Flames vs Oilers prediction, odds and Battle of Alberta picks are below.

Flames vs Oilers Prediction

I’m backing the road dog for my Flames vs Oilers prediction. Edmonton is the better team on paper and scores 4.25 goals per game, but -210 carries a 67.7% implied chance. That’s a lot to lay on a team allowing 3.33 goals a night.

The shot numbers lean Calgary. The Flames put 29.18 shots on goal per game, while the Oilers average just 25.58 and give up 26.92.

Calgary’s 1-3 road record is a fair knock, and 2.55 goals per game won’t scare anyone. Still, Edmonton is only 3-2-2 at home, and the Flames at +175, about a 36.4% implied shot, are worth backing in a rivalry game.

Odds as of Oct. 27 via theScore Bet.

The Flames vs Oilers odds give Calgary a little cushion on the puck line. The Flames +1.5 costs -135, a 57.4% implied chance, while Edmonton -1.5 pays +115, which translates to about 46.5%.

The total sits at 6.5 goals, with the Over at -115 and the Under at -105. Both sides land right around a coin flip once you account for the vig. Line shoppers should compare these prices with BET99 before locking anything in.

Flames vs Oilers Battle of Alberta Picks

I’ve got a prop from each side for my Battle of Alberta picks, and both lean on shot volume.

  • Connor McDavid Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+105 at theScore Bet)

McDavid has 8 goals and 26 assists through 12 games. Those 34 points underline how much of Edmonton’s attack flows through him.

Calgary also allows 30.27 shots per game, almost five more than the Oilers usually generate. More room for Edmonton means more looks for the captain, and +105 (a 48.8% implied chance) is a fair price on four shots.

  • Joel Farabee Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-180 at theScore Bet)

Farabee leads the Flames with 11 points on 3 goals and 8 assists, ahead of Matt Coronato (10) and Matvei Gridin (8). Calgary is a volume team at 29.18 shots per game, and its top scorer only needs two.

The -180 tag implies about a 64.3% probability, so it’s not a cheap ask. I’m still pairing Farabee with McDavid to wrap up my Flames vs Oilers picks rather than chasing a longer shot in the NHL Player Props market.

Edmonton’s offence runs deeper than McDavid. Leon Draisaitl has 12 goals and 12 assists, while Evan Bouchard has chipped in 7 goals and 14 assists.

That’s the problem for a Calgary group giving up 3.64 goals per game. Calgary generates more shots per game than Edmonton, but turning that volume into goals is the challenge at Rogers Place.
