The Ottawa Senators (8-5) head to Los Angeles to face the Kings (3-6-2) on Thursday night. It’s the first meeting between the two clubs this season, with puck drop set for 10pm ET at Crypto.com Arena.
October has been rough for LA. The Kings are winless in three home games and have been outscored 37-28 through 11 contests. Ottawa has been steadier, going 3-2 away from home.
Both sides are dealing with injuries, and neither starting goalie has been confirmed. Here’s my Senators vs Kings prediction, plus the latest goalie news and my best bets for Thursday.
Senators vs Kings Prediction
- Senators to win (52¢ at Kalshi)

My Senators vs Kings prediction is Ottawa to win, and I’m happy to pay a small premium on the road.
Kalshi had the Senators at 52¢ on Oct. 28, with the Kings at 50¢. Each contract pays $1 if you’re right, so the price works as the market’s implied chance before fees. That makes Ottawa about a 52% shot and LA about 50%. The two sides add up to a bit more than 100 because of the spread built into the market.
I think the gap between these teams is wider than that. LA has allowed 37 goals in 11 games, roughly 3.4 per night, and still hasn’t won on home ice.
The injury list makes it worse. Kevin Fiala, Mats Zuccarello, Alex Turcotte, Jakub Dvorak and Jan Jenik are all out, while Drew Doughty and Corey Perry are day-to-day. That’s a lot of missing pieces for a team that’s already struggling to keep the puck out.
Ottawa has health questions of its own, with William Eklund and Linus Ullmark both out. But the Sens’ top six still has punch. Before Tuesday’s game in Vegas, their most recent lines had Tim Stutzle centering Fabian Zetterlund and Claude Giroux, with Dylan Cozens between Drake Batherson and Warren Foegele. Foegele is day-to-day with a knee injury, so keep an eye on that second line.
Until the Kings show they can win at home, I’ll keep backing the visitors.
Senators vs Kings Starting Goalies
Neither team has confirmed its Senators vs Kings starting goalies yet. Jonas Johansson and Anton Forsberg are possibilities, while Samuel Ersson and Darcy Kuemper are also in the mix. Sportsnaut lists Forsberg as LA’s projected starter, citing PuckPedia, but that’s a projection, not a confirmation.
Senators vs Kings Goalie Comparison
Forsberg has the better numbers over a bigger sample, but a .902 save percentage isn’t scaring anyone. Johansson has given up just over three goals a game in his two outings. With Ullmark out, Ottawa won’t have its usual top option either way. Check for confirmed starters closer to puck drop.
Senators vs Kings Best Bets
- Over 5.5 goals (55¢ at Kalshi)
Block(s) placed here are shown when viewing from any of the geo restricted states (configure in the controller).
My second Senators vs Kings best bet goes after the total. YES on Over 5.5 was trading at 55¢ on Oct. 28, about a 55% implied chance before fees. Taking the Under through NO cost 47¢.
Kings games have been busy. LA’s 28 goals for and 37 against add up to 65 goals in 11 games, close to 5.9 per night. That average already sits above this number before you factor in who’s in net.
Neither likely starter has a save percentage above .902, and LA’s blue line is thin with Dvorak out and Doughty day-to-day. Ottawa’s top line gives the Sens a real chance to do plenty of the scoring here.

Senators vs Kings Injury Report
Ottawa: Linus Ullmark (lower body, out), William Eklund (ankle, out), Warren Foegele (knee, day-to-day), Thomas Chabot (day-to-day)
Los Angeles: Kevin Fiala (leg, out), Mats Zuccarello (upper body, out), Alex Turcotte (out), Jakub Dvorak (out), Jan Jenik (out), Drew Doughty (day-to-day), Corey Perry (day-to-day)
Chabot skated with Ottawa’s main group for the first time since his injury and made the trip along with Ullmark. His return still hasn’t been confirmed.
