The Seattle Kraken (8-4-1) roll into Calgary after a late escape Wednesday. Brandon Montour beat Sergei Bobrovsky with 33 seconds left of the third period, giving Seattle a 5-4 win over Toronto after it let a two-goal lead slip away.

The Calgary Flames (5-7-0) come home in a worse mood. Their four-game win streak ended with a 4-0 loss in Edmonton, where Oilers goalie Tristan Jarry stopped all 24 shots. Calgary also lost goalie Devin Cooley and forward Brennan Othmann to injuries after the first period.

Puck drop on Friday, Oct. 30 is 8 pm ET / 6 pm MT at Scotiabank Saddledome. My Kraken vs Flames prediction is below, along with a look at where the market has this one priced.

I’m taking Seattle for my Kraken vs Flames prediction, in a closely priced matchup. A 51¢ contract carries about a 51% implied chance, so the market sees a coin flip. I lean Kraken because of the question mark in Calgary’s crease, not because the price is a steal.

Cooley was the engine of the Flames’ run. He gave up two goals or fewer in all four wins and posted a .955 save percentage over that stretch. Then he exited Wednesday’s game after one period with a lower-body injury. Dustin Wolf made 20 saves in relief, so Calgary isn’t stuck without options. But no Friday starter has been confirmed, and losing the guy who carried the streak changes the outlook.

The streak itself was built on tight games. Calgary beat Carolina 3-2, Minnesota 2-1, Detroit 4-1 and Toronto 5-2. Wednesday’s loss showed what happens when the goaltending edge goes away. The Flames were outshot 31-24, went 0-for-1 on the power play and trailed 12-8 in 5-on-5 high-danger chances.

Seattle brings more scoring punch into this one. Five different Kraken found the net against Toronto, with Chandler Stephenson adding a goal and an assist and Mackie Samoskevich chipping in two helpers. Seattle has won three of its last four.

The Kraken also showed some fight after Toronto erased that two-goal cushion. Instead of folding, they won an offensive-zone draw late, and Jordan Eberle set up Montour for the winner. That kind of response matters in a game priced this tight.

The Kraken vs Flames betting line barely separates these teams. Seattle’s 51¢ moneyline translates to about a 51% chance, with Calgary right behind at 50¢.

A Seattle win by two or more goals trades at 30¢, roughly a 30% implied shot, while Calgary +1.5 sits at 71¢. The 6.5-goal total is balanced too, with the Over at 49¢ and the Under at 53¢. Two points against a division rival carry weight this early in the NHL Playoff Bracket.

Kraken vs Flames Goalie and Injury News

Dustin Wolf has been confirmed as the Flames starter, Keep an eye on morning skate news before locking in your Friday NHL picks.

It looks like it may very well be Phillip Grubauer for Seattle. The former has is 5-1-1 with a 2.93 GAA and .897 save percentage, while the latter is 1-4-0 with a woeful 4.81 GAA and .839 save percentage.
